We love a great Grand Canyon proposal story, don’t you? When we spoke to the couple at a wedding show, we knew that we wanted to feature Jazmine and Alberic’s Grand Canyon marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
I was working as a nurse in a rehab facility, and my now fiancé got a job there as a business office manager. We started off as friends at first because neither of us wanted to date where we worked. We started hanging out a lot in group setting and work events like the Christmas party.
I remember co-workers saying how cute of a couple we’d be, but we were so determined to stay friends, but then eventually, just us two started hanging out.
Our first date was at Universal Studios, and from there, we started seeing each other all the time and talking every day. He asked me to be his girlfriend on a dinner cruise in Tampa, and it’s been nothing short of an amazing journey together.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We love to travel, we have this thing where we want to make sure we see 1-2 new places each year. A favorite way of ours to travel is cruises! It’s also a little reminder of when he asked me to be his girlfriend.
For dates we like to try out different restaurants we find on social media. We are also huge suckers for movies and reality shows. We like outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and skiing.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
3 years, 8 months
Did anyone help with the Grand Canyon marriage proposal?
It was all Him!
Share your Grand Canyon marriage proposal story…
So we had this trip to Las Vegas planned with my friends. It’s a friend group we often travel with so it was nothing out of the norm. I usually always plan out places to see when we travel, so this trip was no different. There was one day where everyone planned on kinda doing their own thing, and everyone was aware prior to the trip.
So I made us a little itinerary of places to see including 7 magic mountains, Hoover dam and Grand Canyon. We woke up early on Jan 11 and set out to start the day! We started at 7 magic Mountains and then Hoover Dam.
Now at Hoover dam my now fiancé said he wanted to skip the next stop which was Joshua’s tree and go straight to Grand Canyon as he felt we were running out of time.
Now I feel the need to mention neither of us has been to Vegas before so I didn’t realize how close Joshua’s tree was to Grand Canyon ok!
So instead of going to the GPS and typing Grand Canyon I typed out the address, don’t ask me why I have no idea. I select the first option and it shows it’s like 1hr 40mins away.
So we start the drive. This is also an appropriate time to mention we have a selfie tripod we’ve been using to take pictures of us so we don’t bother people.
Along the way to this address I selected we stop at these pretty places in the side of the road for pictures and man did those pictures come out so pretty!
Nevada is breathtaking honestly. After some time my now fiance noticed that things look weird and this “Grand Canyon” we are approaching looks small.
He asks me to check the address again which I do. What do you know! I put the wrong address!! I couldn’t believe it. When I put the right one in turns out it’s another 1hr 30min back the way we came!
Alberic looked so defeated at the time and I thought in the moment wow I ruined his chance to see the Grand Canyon he seems like he really wanted to go.
We made the best of it and actually made it to the real Grand Canyon 2 hrs before it closed!
So instead Grand Canyon there’s 2 spots to see. As we are exploring the 1st stop, they announce sun sets at 5:25 pm and I notice it’s already 4:50pm and we’ve been at the 1st stop awhile so I told Alberic let’s head to the next stop.
Lemme tell you he was so concerned that this was the better stop and started asking people which stop was the most pretty and at the time I’m like well let’s go find out on our own and just go.
So we get to the 2nd spot at around 5:10pm and I’m thinking man we don’t have a lot of sun left. So I am very occupied taking pictures and videos.
Now remember the tripod I mentioned ? Alberic is trying to get it open, and for the first time all day it doesn’t open! So he is stuck on that.
I start wandering around and I remember at some point I hear my name being called. Alberic got the tripod open and was trying to find me screaming my name because I kept walking.
So sun is about to go down, we set up the tripod and start taking a video to pose with and just screen grad the pictures later.
As we are doing this Alberic says to me oh let me make sure it’s angled right. As he’s checking the phone I turn around to see the edge of the cliff. Then I feel a tap on my back, and when I turn around, there he is on one knee! I was so taken aback and surprised the first words out of my mouth was “no you’re not” and then Cue the waterworks.
I was SOBBING the whole time. And man the view! Grand Canyon during sunset!! Come on!
So I said yes about 1000 times, and the people around us started clapping and saying congratulations. We took more photos, of course, and then drove back to our hotel calling everyone along the way. I found out after about his he asked my dad back in October and has been waiting for the right moment.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
This is hard. The entire day was so special. The moments after the proposal felt surreal. I felt like I was floating on a cloud, and in that moment, it was just us two surrounded by our love for each other. It was a moment I’ll remember forever.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
I FaceTimed my dad who was with my mom and they were the first to know
Tell us about the ring!
Is it bad I don’t know the answer to this? It was never about the ring for me. It has a good band and a cushion. Those are the only technical terms I know.
How quickly I got used to a ring on my finger! Now I feel weird with it off.
The expos have been so much fun! I’ve loved them.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Everything ! Planning this day to celebrate our love with everyone we love is so special! We have the venue, and I can’t wait to slowly start booking all the other vendors.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
Bridle Oaks on 1/25/26.
Why did you choose that venue?
In the words of my fiancé “it transports you into this beautiful garden”. It’s a beautiful venue, honestly. We love the woodsy vibes.
100-130
What’s your approach to your wedding budget?
We both came to an agreement on the max we were willing to each spend as a whole, combined it, made that our top budget, and worked our way down to how much of that we want to allocate to vendors.
What’s your wedding style?
It’s in a barn but as modern as you can make but simple and keeping the rustic vibe.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with Wedding Venue Map readers?
Tour all the venues! I thought I’d like a certain style until I toured it and realized I liked something completely different. Keep an open mind and make it fun! This is the biggest decision you’ll make, try to make as stress-free as possible, and don’t rush a venue.
Congratulations Jazmine & Alberic, on your Grand Canyon marriage proposal!
