FAQs About Choosing an Orlando Wedding Photographer

How do we know the wedding photographers listed here are reputable businesses?

Each wedding photographer on this page has been personally interviewed and vetted by the Wedding Venue Map team—local wedding experts in Central Florida. They offer a wide array of price points, edit and shoot styles, and packages. Each photography company has a valid Florida business license and carries liability insurance (which your venue probably requires). We have read their reviews and checked their references.

How far in advance should we book a wedding photographer in Central Florida?

While there are so many wedding photographers to choose from, the perfect match for you might be a company with only one main photographer.  They can only photograph one wedding in a day, so once they’re booked, they’re unavailable.  We recommend booking your photographer nine to eighteen months before the wedding to guarantee the availability of the best wedding photographer for you.

How many wedding photographers should we interview before booking?

You will spend more time on your wedding day with your photographer than any other person, possibly including your spouse. It’s important to make sure that you choose a wedding photographer that you both have a connection with and feel completely comfortable spending time with, including intimate moments like getting dressed. Start by doing your research online to find a local wedding photographer who works within your general budget range but also both shoots and edits in the style you prefer. Narrow that down to no more than five options and then book appointments. We recommend having a Zoom meeting so you can see each other face to face and read their body language as well.

What are a few questions we should ask wedding photographers that we’re interviewing?

  • Are you available on my wedding date?
  • Who will actually be there shooting my wedding?
  • Does that package include one wedding photographer or more than one? If more than one, who does what?
  • Can you show me a full wedding from getting ready to the grand exit?
  • How many hours do I need to capture the photos that are most important to me?
  • Have you ever shot a wedding at my venue before? If not, are you willing to take a tour in advance to familiarize yourself with the spaces?
  • How long will it take to receive my images?
  • Does that package include all digital files or do I have to purchase them?
  • What is the most common add-on to the package that your couples make closer to the wedding or after the fact?

What are some factors we should consider in choosing a wedding photographer?

Choosing a wedding photographer is an important decision. After the day is over, the photos are the memories that you’ll have forever. Here are the most important factors to make a choice:

  • Shoot style – do you prefer a wedding photographer who shoots photojournalistic images, posed or a mix of them both?
  • Edit style – known as light and airy, dark and moody, or true to color, every photographer edits the images in their own way. Make sure you choose a wedding photographer so that when you look back at your images 20 years from now, the photo edit style won’t be a trend that you regret.
  • Personality – as we mentioned above, if you don’t feel comfortable and at ease with your photographer, it will show in the images. Choose someone who makes you feel relaxed and like the best version of yourself.

What is the average cost of a Central Florida wedding photographer?

There is a big range in pricing for a wedding photographer in Orlando and Central Florida. If you’re working on your budget for a photographer, the average range is between $2,500 to $4,000. But it depends upon how many hours, how many photographers shooting, their level of experience, and what is included in the package. Make sure that you are comparing apples to apples when looking at each company that you meet with.

Does the wedding photographer need a shot list from me?

While there may be some really important images that you want to make sure get captured on your wedding day, your wedding photographer is a professional. You have chosen them based on the portfolio that you’ve reviewed and their expertise. Other than a short list of must-have wedding day photos and portraits (and we mean SHORT), let them capture the moments and emotions of the day in the best way they know how.
