It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendor is so important on your wedding day. The vendors are responsible for every moment, every picture, and every memory.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Kelly King of ABC Fine Wine and Spirits.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
We provide personalized service for couples planning for their upcoming wedding, individuals planning special events, or businesses hosting corporate functions. Our concierge service allows our guests and clients to experience a fully customized service even if they have no idea what to purchase, or how much, or they know exactly what they want! We will make it happen, and we will deliver their selections directly to the venue!
What did you do before you did this?
In 2010, I had already been planning events on a volunteer basis for several years. After I realized how much I really loved it, I decided to make the career move and go back to school to earn my Event Management degree from UCF.
Prior to graduating, I was working at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits as a wine consultant (because I also have a huge passion for wine) and ultimately, I was hoping to combine my two passions into one amazing career. Our new Concierge program is that perfect role for me!
I am still in the world of wine and get to help others plan special moments with a little spirits……okay, sometimes, A LOT of spirits!
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
The best part of what I do is being able to witness how things develop from start to finish. Every event starts with a vision and it’s amazing to see the layers of ideas turn into a client’s dream.
In my case, I get to see the work of MANY other talented people in the industry flourish, while I assist in providing bubbles to toast the most special moments and memories.
My WHY is all about taking the stress away from my clients. Most people are very intimidated with what to serve to their guests, or how much to purchase. We help with all that and deliver to the venue, so no one is running around on the day of an important event. I have never had so many strangers tell me they love me! I truly enjoy spreading happiness.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is creating happiness! I love meeting new people and assisting with their special day. I typically get to be the person that is saving them money and delivering their order so they don’t have to run around worrying about it.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
I am surprised by the number of guests that have said, “I love you” to me. Many times, it’s someone I have never met, but we have only spoken over the phone. People get very excited about delivery to the venue, knowing they don’t have to worry about this element during a busy day.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
People are usually pretty excited to learn that we accept returns. We also deliver to the venue the day of the wedding, or to the caterer if they are supplying the bar service.
Why do you think your business is successful?
Our Concierge program has been so successful because of the convenience. We customize every experience tailored to the guest.
We begin the planning process with a consultation at the store to make selections and get recommendations. However, not all couples are local. Many times I am working with couples over the phone and through email. We do whatever we can to assist couples, local or not, from start to finish!
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
“How much do we purchase, so we don’t run out?” We get this question from almost every guest. The fear of running out can be very embarrassing and put a damper on your special day. This is why we have such a great return policy. Guests can return any unopened or un-chilled bottles for a refund. This creates such peace of mind to make sure you have enough!
What is your best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
Sometimes, simple is better!
It can be very intimidating planning a bar for your guests when you have no idea where to begin or what to serve. Having 2-3 wine options, 2-3 beer options and a basic bar will please most crowds. Couples can get overwhelmed trying to add way too many options to appease their guests, but they need to remember that is THEIR special day! The memories being made and celebrated that day have nothing to do with the beer selection.
