What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?

We are a family-owned company and are a newlywed couple as of 2022. We understand the needs of our clients because we put ourselves in their shoes having been on both sides of the wedding planning journey. We don’t just offer incredible artwork but we also offer an incredible experience, as we feel our clients deserve the best of both worlds.

What's a fun or unusual fact about you or your company?

We have been entrusted by large corporations such as Disney to capture content for their most special events.

How did you get started as a wedding pro?

In 2010 I (Claire) was shooting photos for a fun side hobby when a friend asked me to capture her wedding; I initially told her no but she kept insisting so I bought my first DSLR and captured her wedding. It was a rush and I was in love! I put in two weeks' notice the next day with no plan but just passion in me. I advertised and ended up booking 43 weddings my first year 57 my second year and picked up a large corporate client and 70 weddings my third year. Rob was my best friend and in year 4 I started teaching him, by year 5 he joined me full time and we created a new company called That First Moment. We never looked back and are blessed to capture and create magical memories together as husband and wife for those who love and dream worldwide for the last 7 years!

Share a piece of advice to reduce stress in the wedding planning process.

Hire a planner. Seriously. How much is your time worth per hour? How much is your sanity worth each day? Not having to argue or stress about little things with your partner is worth more than the charge, planners have good relationships with all their vendors so you know you're safe on the big day and they save you money!; Other than that, allow yourself to feel stress and anxiety through the process, it’s okay to want a perfect representation of your love story, just let go and let God on the wedding day. Be present with your spouse, family, and friends, and let the story unfold however it unfolds. They don’t call it a love plan it’s a love story cause it happens as it will, and we’ll make sure to capture every beautiful candid memory as it does!

What's your favorite wedding tradition and why?

Not so much a tradition than a moment, I love the first time after a ceremony our bride(s) and/or groom(s) call each other my husband or my wife in a random conversation. The realization that they have that title now is normally followed by some string of adorable emotions and is a favorite moment that happens naturally after a ceremony and I always look out for it!

What is a unique tip you tell your couples that is specific to your vendor category?

Overthinking your imagery kills your imagery. Laughing, being silly, and just being together, will translate better for your final images, more than worrying about being perfect the whole time.

What current trends have you seen at weddings?

There have been a few that we’ve noticed in recent months. Some include the break from uniformity among the bridal party and can range to themed outfits. TikTok transitions are big right now, as well as “crazy hour.”

What advice would you give a couple who is starting the search for the perfect venue?

Play the day out as your guest, does the flow line up with your vision, make sure when picking a venue and date you’re thinking about the experience of the day, not only a pretty view. Will it be hot, the guys are wearing suits, is it rain season, will you need a tent etc?; If you choose a hotel to get ready at a ceremony somewhere else and a reception at a third location it’s a lot of travel, so pad enough time to not rush yourself and your guests so you enjoy the moments!
