About Vintage Dance Company
We are a company that loves the vintage styles of dancing and early jazz and we want to share the music and the dances and make them accessible to everyone.
Our purpose is to provide an authentic jazz and swing experience and to see people not only enjoy these great dances from the past, but through the dance and musical experience, be emotionally and physically freed and feel celebrated for who they are whether they are taking lessons, dancing with their partner, watching a performance, or dancing on the social floor.
We specialize in performing and teaching many of the dance styles that developed in the early 20th Century with jazz music. These dances include Charleston, Lindy Hop, Vernacular Jazz, Shag, Blues, and Balboa, though some of our dancers know other styles as well. We perform, host dance events, teach lessons, and sometimes participate in community events that offer opportunities for dancing.
Many dance studios may know a form of these old dances or the basics, but we like to make our experiences feel authentic by bringing in the spirit and the history of the dance and keeping it in mind with everything we do.
Currently, Vintage Dance Company offers social dances with a free beginner lesson, regular dance classes, dance workshops, individual and group private lessons, and performers, teachers, and DJs for private and public events.
Services Offered

Frequently Asked Questions
How would you define your "style"?
Our style is a fun, joy-filled, authentic vintage experience. Think dance parties (both elaborate and simple) of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s.
What does the process of working with your company look like?
We will typically start with a conversation about what you want. What kinds of services are you interested in? What styles of music and dancing? If you want to take lessons for the first dance, what are the look, feeling, and era you’re going for? Based on your needs, wants, and availability of dancers, we will recommend the dancers we feel will best help you achieve your goal and then let you make the ultimate decision of who you want to book and which services you’d like to book. If you want to learn a style of dance or choreography, we recommend taking lessons weekly for two months, but sometimes more depending on what your goals are.
What is included in your most popular packages?
Our most popular package is our most basic one, where we give couples a few lessons on social dancing. It is a great choice for those who don’t want to spend a lot of time learning and practicing a choreography, but want to look good for their first dance.
What is a unique tip you tell your couples that is specific to your vendor category?
For your final one or two lessons, bring the shoes you’ll be wearing for your wedding to practice in!
What current trends have you seen at weddings?
We have seen a growing trend for couples wanting to provide entertainment for their guests during cocktail hour, when the bridal party is busy getting their photos or a change of wardrobe before the rest of the ceremony can commence. Some brides have chosen to offer a dance lesson for their guests. That way, they are not just entertained, they are prepared to dance when the music starts.
What advice would you give a couple who is starting the search for the perfect venue?
I can say that Wedding Venue Map makes it so much easier to find a venue! This platform or similar platforms that allow you to filter and search are a great starting place. Also, if you’ve already chosen a vendor in another category, they’ll be a great resource as they may be connected to many different venues and have probably worked on a wedding there or at least toured the site.
