Our belief is that our guests deserve more than just the standard hotel and resort treatment; you deserve to experience the true nature of Greek hospitality. Our beautiful villas, located in beautiful Crete Greece, offer the demanding and experienced traveler a memorable alternative to hotels, with our private and elegant villas with gorgeous views of the Mediterranean. Wine Dark Sea offers our guests private luxury with private views of the original Wine Dark Sea of the Mediterranean. You will bask in the area that Odysseus made famous. You can almost hear the song of the Sirens when you lounge on your balcony overlooking the sea.

We provide villas with tasteful and elegant beauty while giving our guests the option of full service equal to a five-star hotel, to minimum service for complete privacy and discretion. We provide more than just a beautiful private villa for your dream vacation, we provide you with a staff of professionals who will make your stay as comfortable as possible and give you a wealth of choices and options for your vacation.

Our villas are in stunning and dramatic locations with your own private views of the sea and mountains. The villas are within minutes of gorgeous beaches and picturesque villages and monasteries. Our villas are 15 minutes from Heraklion and 30 minutes from the airport but they are a universe away from the bland and mundane world. We provide our visiting guests with an escape from their busy world and offer them a sanctuary that will restore their tired souls.

Our Wine Dark Sea villa policy is to give a traveler an alternative to the hotel experience but still offer our guests as much service as he or she wants. We can give you full privacy or full service that includes a private chef. Your vacation is tailored to your desires. Wine Dark Sea Villas offers more than beautiful villas, we offer you a beautiful experience. Come visit with us and let us show you the ancient law of hospitality.

Services Offered

Should you decide to host your wedding with us, we charge a flat fee of 2,500 euros in addition to the cost of your stay that covers staff assistance with outdoor preparation, cleaning staff during the event, and outdoor + pool cleaning for the next day. We do not provide catering or planning, but we do help put you in touch with local caterers, florists, photographers, and all services you need to have the destination wedding of your dreams.

A Little About Our Pricing

Our prices are determined both by which villa you choose and what time of year we host you. Our least expensive villa, Lemuria Manor (located on the island of Rhodes), ranges from 400 euros a night to 650, euros per night, at our slowest and peak season respectively, with a minimum stay of 3 nights. Our most expensive villa, Kastello Kalliste (located on the island of Crete), ranges from 1,600 euros a night to 2,500 euros a night, at our slowest and peak of the season respectively, with a minimum stay of 7 nights. Areas in Florida We Serve

Our villas are based in the Greek Islands. Four of our villas, Villa Artemis, Villa Bella Mare, Villa Santorini, and Kastello Kalliste, are located on the picturesque island of Crete. Lemuria Manor is located on the beautiful island of Rhodes, inside the ancient walled city. All of the services we provide are on these two Greek islands, but we have hosted couples from all over the globe! From other parts of Europe, to the British Isles, and even Floridian families, we host clients who are looking for a luxury experience that no other company can offer them.

Always look for the company that will personalize their services for you, as well as answer all of your questions! You want a company that will help tailor the wedding of your dreams, not conform your vision to their ideas.

What advice would you give a couple who is starting the search for the perfect venue?

Use us! But even if you don’t, look for a venue that will give you the closest experience to your dream wedding without breaking the bank. What we love about destination weddings is that couples can have a magical and memorable wedding day without the drama, hassle, and normal costs of a traditional wedding. Instead, you can focus on your love, and sharing the day (and subsequent honeymoon) with each other and closest friends and family. You can still have the big reception with everyone when you’re back, but when you choose a destination wedding, you’re saving costs and peace of mind.

What makes you or your business stand out and why should a couple hire you?

Wine Dark Sea Villas is a family business, started because of our own frustration that came from traveling as a large group of five adults. We were tired of overpaying for multiple hotel rooms and impersonal treatment, as well as the lack of freedom that came from being restricted by tour groups. Our villas are meant to be whatever you want them to be: the scenic backdrop for your dream destination wedding, the honeymoon vacation you’ll never forget, and all of life’s adventures. We are as involved or hands-off as you desire, because we want you to have the experience of your dreams, not dictated by an outside agency. From our complimentary turn-down service performed every three days, to helping you find a private chef for that special evening (or your whole stay!), we at Wine Dark Sea Villas want your stay with us to be as unique as you are.

What's a fun or unusual fact about you or your company?

Our name, Wine Dark Sea Villas, sometimes confuses our guests. We’re often asked if wine-tasting is a major part of staying with us. But our name actually comes from Homer’s description of the Aegean Sea! We wanted to pay homage to Greece’s artistic heritage in everything we do. We also gift all our guests a gift basket that contains a complimentary bottle of our very own olive oil, Song of Odysseus! We oversea the entire process, from the tree to the packaging, to present our highest quality, award-winning olive oil.

How did you get started as a wedding pro?

We first ventured into the world of weddings as we were building Villa Santorini. During construction of this beautiful villa, we realized it could be so much more than a vacation destination. As the owner of the company supervised instruction, he requested specific additions to the grounds, such as a carefully crafted garden and an arch that has since been dubbed ‘The Wedding Arch.’ This popular spot is now where most of our couples exchange vows, with the Aegean Sea as the backdrop. Since then, we’ve hosted several weddings at almost all of our villas, and hosted honeymooning couples at all of them.

What's your favorite wedding tradition and why?

Fireworks! It’s traditional on the island of Crete to conclude the evening with fireworks at night! It’s a wonderful way to conclude the celebration in our Cretan weddings, (though sadly it is not offered for our villa in Rhodes).
