Frequently Asked Questions

What should couples know before their first consultation with you?

Come prepared with your guest count estimate, wedding date, venue location, and any initial thoughts on your bar vision. Don’t worry if you don’t have all the details figured out yet – that’s what I’m here for! It’s helpful to know your budget range, whether you’re providing alcohol or need recommendations, and if you have any signature cocktail ideas. Most importantly, come ready to have fun planning this part of your wedding. Our consultation is relaxed, informative, and designed to make you feel confident about your bar service.

How would you describe your style or approach?

Professional, personable, and stress-free. I bring 20+ years of bartending expertise with a laid-back approach that puts couples at ease. My style is luxury without the stuffiness – think craft cocktails served with genuine warmth and a smile. I believe your bar should reflect your personality, not just be a generic drink station. Whether you want classic elegance, tropical vibes, or something uniquely “you,” I’ll create a bar experience that fits seamlessly into your celebration. I’m detail-oriented in planning but flexible on the day of, ensuring everything runs smoothly while you enjoy your moment.

What does the process of working with you look like?

It’s simple and stress-free! First, we’ll have a consultation to discuss your vision, guest count, and budget. I’ll create a custom proposal outlining services, pricing, and package options. Once you book, we’ll stay in touch leading up to your wedding – I’ll handle vendor coordination, finalize your cocktail menu, and answer any questions. About two weeks before, we’ll confirm final details and guest count. On your wedding day, I arrive early for setup, handle all bar service seamlessly, and take care of complete breakdown. You won’t have to think about the bar at all – that’s my job. After your celebration, I follow up to ensure everything exceeded your expectations.

How far in advance do you recommend couples book their services?

I recommend booking as soon as you have your venue and date confirmed, ideally 6 to 12 months in advance for peak wedding season (October through May in Florida). Premium dates like Saturdays in spring and fall book up quickly. That said, I’ve successfully executed beautiful bar services with just a few weeks notice for couples who found me later in their planning. If your date is coming up soon, reach out anyway! I’ll do everything possible to accommodate you. Early booking gives us more time for creative cocktail development and ensures you get your preferred package, but great service is possible at any timeline.

What is included in your most popular packages?

Our most popular package is designed for 100 to 150 guests and includes professional bartenders for your entire reception, complete mobile bar setup with all necessary equipment and glassware, two custom signature cocktails designed specifically for you, all mixers and bar essentials including fresh garnishes, pre-event consultation and planning, coordination with your venue and other vendors, and full setup and breakdown so you never see the behind-the-scenes work. We also provide a shopping list if you’re purchasing your own alcohol, or can connect you with preferred liquor vendors. Every package is fully insured and includes experienced, licensed bartenders who know how to keep your celebration flowing smoothly.

Do you offer customizable packages or à la carte options?

Absolutely! Every wedding is unique, and your bar service should be too. While I have standard packages as starting points, most couples customize their service to fit their specific needs. Want to add a champagne wall for your cocktail hour? Done. Need an extra bartender for a larger guest count? Easy. Interested in a specialty tequila tasting station or a build-your-own-mimosa bar for a brunch reception? Let’s make it happen. I can also work à la carte if you only need specific services. My goal is to create exactly what you envision, not force you into a one-size-fits-all package. During our consultation, we’ll discuss your priorities and build a service plan that fits your celebration perfectly.

Do you have experience with different cultural or religious wedding traditions?

Yes! Over 20 years in the industry, I’ve had the honor of serving weddings from many different cultural and religious backgrounds including Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, and multicultural celebrations that blend traditions beautifully. I understand the importance of respecting cultural customs, timing considerations, and dietary restrictions. Whether that means coordinating bar service around specific ceremony elements, providing exclusively kosher or halal-friendly options, or ensuring we’re set up for traditional toasts and rituals, I work closely with couples and their families to honor what’s meaningful to them. I’m always eager to learn about traditions I haven’t encountered before, and I approach every celebration with cultural sensitivity and respect.

What is one thing couples often forget to ask but should?

Great question! Couples often forget to ask about the timeline and logistics of bar service. Specifically, when does the bar open and close? Do you serve during cocktail hour and the reception, or just one? How do you handle last call? Another big one is asking about ice. Most couples don’t realize how much ice a wedding bar actually needs, and running out mid-reception is a disaster. I always ensure there’s more than enough ice and have a backup plan. Also, couples should ask about liability insurance and alcohol service training. Not every bartender carries proper insurance or knows how to handle intoxicated guests responsibly. Finally, ask what happens if something goes wrong or equipment fails. I always have backup equipment and contingency plans, but not every vendor does. These behind the scenes details make the difference between smooth service and wedding day stress.

What current trends have you seen at weddings?

The cocktail trends right now are amazing! Couples are moving away from basic open bars and getting creative. Signature cocktails that tell their love story are huge, like naming drinks after how they met or their favorite date spots. Mocktail stations with the same level of craft and presentation as alcoholic drinks are everywhere now, which I love because everyone deserves a beautiful drink. Sustainability is big too, with couples requesting locally sourced ingredients, reusable glassware instead of plastic, and seasonal garnishes. Interactive elements like build your own cocktail stations, tequila or whiskey tastings, and espresso martini bars for late night energy are super popular. Aesthetically, couples want Instagram worthy bar setups with neon signs, fresh florals, and unique backdrops. And probably the biggest trend? Couples prioritizing the guest experience and wanting their bar to be a focal point of the celebration, not just a functional necessity. It’s making weddings so much more fun and memorable!

Chris Goodnoe

After 20+ years perfecting the art of craft cocktails, I founded Sip Happens Mobile Bar Service to bring luxury bartending directly to Orlando’s most memorable celebrations. From intimate backyard weddings to grand venue receptions, we create custom bar experiences that taste as good as they look. Because your wedding day deserves more than a guy in cargo shorts mixing rum and Cokes. Let’s make your bar the part of the wedding everyone’s still talking about at brunch the next day. Cheers!

A Little About Us

What makes your business stand out, and why should couples choose you?

Twenty years of bartending experience means I’ve seen it all and can handle anything that comes up on your wedding day. But experience alone isn’t what sets me apart. It’s the combination of expert craft cocktail skills with a genuinely personable approach that makes couples feel like they’re working with a friend, not just a vendor. I don’t show up, pour drinks, and leave. I invest in understanding your vision, creating custom cocktails that reflect your story, and ensuring your bar becomes a memorable part of your celebration. I’m also a dad of two daughters, so I understand the importance of life’s big moments and treat every wedding like it’s my own family celebrating. Plus, I actually respond to emails and texts promptly, which apparently is rare in this industry! You deserve a bartender who’s as excited about your wedding as you are, and that’s exactly what you get with Sip Happens.

What is a fun or unusual fact about you or your company?

I’m weirdly into doomsday prepping, which actually makes me the most prepared bartender you’ll ever meet. Running out of ice? Not on my watch. Need a backup corkscrew? I’ve got three. My garage looks like a small warehouse with backup equipment for every possible scenario. Between weddings, you’ll find me on the pickleball court or perfecting my BBQ game, and yes, I’ve absolutely combined those interests by mixing cocktails at backyard cookouts while playing pickleball. I’m also a dad to two daughters, which means I’ve mastered the art of staying calm under pressure and problem solving on the fly, skills that translate perfectly to wedding day bartending. I’ve got a natural comfort on camera and love creating content about bartending and mobile bar life, so don’t be surprised if you see me pop up on TikTok mixing drinks or sharing behind the scenes wedding stories. Bottom line, I’m probably the only mobile bartender in Central Florida who preps for the apocalypse, dominates at pickleball, and can mix a perfect Old Fashioned.

How did you get started in the wedding industry?

I’ve been bartending for over 20 years, starting in restaurants and private clubs where I fell in love with craft cocktails and hospitality. I did weddings here and there as side work, but it was always my favorite type of event. There’s something special about being part of someone’s happiest day. A few years ago, I realized I wanted to focus exclusively on creating exceptional bar experiences for celebrations, so I founded Sip Happens Mobile Bar Service. The name came from embracing the reality that things happen at weddings, drinks get spilled, plans change, but it’s all part of the celebration. My background in tech gave me the systems and processes mindset, while my decades behind the bar gave me the people skills and craft expertise. Combining those two worlds let me build a mobile bar service that’s both highly professional and genuinely fun. Now I get to do what I love full time, helping couples celebrate their biggest moments with drinks that taste as good as they look.

What is your best advice for reducing wedding planning stress?

Hire vendors you trust and then actually trust them. I see so many couples micromanage every detail because they’re anxious, but that defeats the purpose of hiring professionals. Once you book your team, let them do what they do best. For the bar specifically, don’t overthink the drink menu. Your guests will be happy with quality cocktails, cold beer, and good wine. You don’t need 47 specialty drinks. Also, build in buffer time for everything on your timeline. Cocktail hour running long? Reception starting late? It happens at almost every wedding, so plan for flexibility. My biggest piece of advice though is to delegate a point person who isn’t you or your partner. Someone who can handle vendor questions, timeline adjustments, and small emergencies on the day of. You should be present and enjoying your celebration, not putting out fires. And remember, if something small goes wrong, your guests won’t notice or care. They’re there to celebrate you, not critique your centerpieces.

What is your favorite part of working with couples on their wedding day?

Honestly, it’s watching the moment when couples finally relax and start actually enjoying their own party. There’s usually a point mid reception, maybe after dinner or during dancing, when I see them look around, take it all in, and you can see the stress just melt away. That’s the moment I live for. I also love creating signature cocktails that mean something to the couple and then watching their guests’ reactions when they taste them. There’s something special about translating someone’s love story into a drink. Plus, I get a front row seat to so many genuine moments of joy, from emotional toasts to hilarious dance floor moments to grandparents getting down to throwback songs. After 20 years in this industry, weddings still make me appreciate how good people can be to each other. Every celebration reminds me why this work matters. I get to be part of one of the happiest days of someone’s life, and honestly, that never gets old.

What is your favorite part of the wedding day?

Cocktail hour, hands down. It’s when the energy shifts from formal ceremony to celebration mode, and people are genuinely excited to grab a drink and start mingling. The couple is usually off taking photos, so guests are relaxed and social, and the bar becomes this natural gathering spot where strangers become friends. I love the buzz of cocktail hour, the laughter, the “oh my god this drink is amazing” reactions. It’s also when I get to show off the signature cocktails we created together. Plus, from a bartending perspective, it’s the perfect pace. Busy enough to keep things moving but not so slammed that you can’t have quick conversations with guests. By the time the couple makes their grand entrance to the reception, everyone’s already having a great time, and that positive energy carries through the rest of the night. Cocktail hour sets the tone for the entire celebration, and I love being part of making it special.

Tell us about the couples you love working with.

I love working with couples who trust the process and aren’t afraid to have fun with their bar service. The best clients are the ones who come to me with a vision, even if it’s rough, and then collaborate rather than dictate. They’re open to suggestions, excited about signature cocktails, and understand that their bar is an experience, not just a functional necessity. I also really enjoy working with couples who appreciate quality and are willing to invest in making their bar memorable, but who also keep perspective and don’t stress over perfection. The couples who make my job easy are the ones who communicate clearly, respond to emails, and respect my expertise. But honestly, my favorite couples are the ones who genuinely care about their guests having a great time. When I see a couple prioritize guest experience over Instagram perfection, I know we’re going to create something special together. Those are the weddings I walk away from feeling proud of.

What are some of the best compliments you have received from couples?

The compliment I hear most often is that I made the bar the highlight of their wedding, which never gets old. One couple told me their guests are still talking about the signature cocktails months later and asking for the recipes. Another bride said I was the most responsive and professional vendor they worked with, which means a lot because communication is something I take seriously. I’ve had couples tell me they didn’t realize how much stress the bar was causing them until after our consultation when they felt completely at ease. One of my favorites was a groom who said, “You made me look like a genius for hiring you,” which made me laugh. I’ve also gotten incredible feedback about how I handle unexpected situations, with one couple specifically thanking me for smoothly managing a last minute guest count increase without any drama. But the compliment that hit different was when a father of the bride pulled me aside at the end of the night and said, “Thank you for taking care of my daughter’s day.” That one stuck with me.

What is the story behind your business name?

Sip Happens came from embracing the reality of weddings and celebrations. Things happen. Drinks get spilled, timelines shift, weather changes plans, Uncle Bob has one too many. But you know what? It’s all part of the celebration. The name is a playful twist on a certain phrase we all know, and it perfectly captures my philosophy: stay relaxed, roll with whatever happens, and keep the drinks flowing. When I was launching the business, I wanted a name that was memorable, made people smile, and didn’t take itself too seriously. I’m in the business of creating joy, not stress. The name reminds couples that their wedding doesn’t have to be perfect to be perfect, if that makes sense. As long as the drinks are good and the vibes are right, sip happens and everyone has an amazing time. Plus, it’s fun to say and people remember it, which doesn’t hurt from a marketing perspective!

What do you think makes for a truly memorable wedding?

Authenticity. The weddings that stick with me are the ones where the couple’s personalities shine through every detail. I’ve been to ultra formal black tie affairs and backyard BBQ receptions, and the memorable ones aren’t determined by budget or elegance. It’s whether the celebration feels like the couple. When guests leave saying “that was so them,” you nailed it. Beyond that, it’s the little unexpected moments that make weddings unforgettable. A surprise dance performance, a touching toast, a signature cocktail with a story behind it, or even just genuine emotion during vows. I also think pacing matters more than people realize. The best weddings have natural flow, they’re not rushing guests through or dragging on forever. And honestly, good food and drinks make a massive difference. Guests remember when they were well fed and had great cocktails. But mostly, memorable weddings are the ones where everyone, especially the couple, is genuinely present and enjoying the moment rather than stressing about perfection.

What is one thing people are surprised to learn about you?

People are always surprised that I’m as into doomsday prepping as I am bartending. They expect a bartender to be all about living in the moment, not stockpiling supplies and planning for worst case scenarios. But honestly, the two go hand in hand for me. Being prepared is just part of who I am, whether that’s having backup equipment at a wedding or having emergency supplies at home. Another thing that surprises people is how much I genuinely love the business and marketing side of running Sip Happens. I’m not just behind the bar, I’m creating content, building systems, developing strategy, and constantly thinking about how to improve the client experience. And finally, people are often caught off guard by how comfortable I am on camera. They assume bartenders are introverts who just want to mix drinks quietly, but I genuinely enjoy creating videos, sharing knowledge, and connecting with people online. It’s all part of building something bigger than just showing up and pouring drinks.
