We love a great Paris proposal story, don’t you? When we saw their submission, we knew that we wanted to feature Zoe & Jacob’s Parisian marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
Jacob and I grew up in Orlando, FL, and met through mutual friends in high school. We were freshly 16 years old and went to rival schools. I thought he was so cute when we met, and like typical millennials, we connected on Facebook and the rest is history.
Our first date was a slice of pizza and a movie at Winter Park Village. We still frequent Valdianos for a slice before seeing a movie. Since then we have lived in Miami, Columbus, and DC together before returning to Orlando in 2021.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
When the weather is nice, we love doing activities with our dog, Beau. He is 5 years old and loves a good game of fetch, so we’re always looking for a good dog park to visit with him. We are also on the hunt for the best sourdough in Orlando, and enjoy going to all the local farmer’s markets to track it down!
How long were you together before getting engaged?
12 years
Share your marriage proposal story…
Jacob and I were in Europe visiting my family in Luxembourg. It was his first time traveling to Europe, so we wanted to make the most of it and planned a day trip to Paris. We took the train to the city and spent the day visiting all the local sights. We stayed at a beautiful hotel near the Louvre Museum and enjoyed a romantic dinner nearby.
Afterward, we explored the city at night and came across a pop-up fair. We decided to go up on the ferris wheel because it had an amazing view of the city. When we got to the top, we could see the Eiffel Tower sparkling and that’s when he asked me to marry him.
We were both so happy. After 12 years together, this felt like the right time in our lives to take the next step.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
The view! Of him, and the city!
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
Our parents! We called them once we got back to our hotel room.
Tell us about the ring!
The engagement ring is an emerald cut natural diamond on a white gold band with pave diamonds. It’s from Blue Nile and arrived hours before we left to the airport for our trip to Europe.
It shouldn’t be surprising, but the most surprising is how natural it feels. I think when the timing is right, it’s right and everything just falls into place as it should.

Wedding planning! I’ve spent 12 years thinking about what my wedding would look like, so to see how that has evolved and be able to plan it has been so fun.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Food tasting and wedding dress shopping. I mean, who isn’t excited about those things? I’ve known for a while that I wanted a plated meal and family-style tables at the reception so everyone we love could all be together.
But also, I think many people my age watched shoes like Say Yes to The Dress and have always wondered what it would be like to go dress shopping, or what the dress they fall in love with would look like.

If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We’re getting married August 20th at Casa Feliz in Winter Park
Why did you choose that venue?
We love how warm and inviting the venue feels and the reception area provides a great space for the family style dinner we envisioned.
