It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding cake designer Danielle Cribb of Sugar Sugar Cake Boutique and share the story behind her company.
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
I have been doing this roughly for about 10 years now, since I started my internship with another cake company. Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
Tell us about your most memorable event so far and why it was.
My most memorable event thus far has got to be when I was featured on a baking competition on Netflix called Sugar Rush Christmas. It was such an experience that not many can say they have done. It was definitely an accomplishment!
What motivates you to do this every day?
The relationships I create every day with potential clients and all the reviews I get. It makes me super proud and is a huge motivator.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
I am a huge crime junkie! If I wasn’t doing cakes, I would probably be a crime investigator.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
I specialize in buttercream cakes. You would think they are fondant by looking at them, but I have you fooled!
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
My customer service. I don’t treat anyone like they are just another customer. I take the time to befriend my customers. They are just a part of the Sugar Sugar family!
What is your best piece of advice for someone that just got engaged?
Don’t wait too long to book your vendors. Do the research upfront and book. Then go back and figure out all of the details and logistics.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
Couples always think that doing a fake dummy cake is going to be so much more affordable. It won’t. The fake tiers cost more than ingredients when you break them down and the labor of stacking and decorating is still there.
Tell us three venues you enjoy working at and why.
I love working at Bella Collina because the atmosphere is so serene and you actually feel like you are somewhere in Tuscany!
I love working at Cypress Grove as well. I got married there back in 2014, so I might be a little biased!
I also love working at Club Lake Plantation over in Apopka. Such a cool venue that isn’t your traditional barn.
Here is what some previous couples had to say…
“Danielle is just as sweet as her cakes and was nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend her (and her apple pie cake 😘) for any wedding or event!” – Alexandra
“We hired Danielle to create our wedding cake. From the moment we met her she was wonderful to work with. Our cake tasting was an absolute blast. Our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous and our guests would not stop complimenting us on how delicious our wedding cake was! She truly is a dream to work with and her wedding cakes are DELICIOUS! Did not look any further, best wedding cake I have ever tasted!!” – Rachel
“We were SO impressed with Danielle’s wedding cake! It looked absolutely beautiful! The time she spent with us before the wedding determining exactly what design we wanted was great. She made a sketch of the cake that really helped us visualize what we would be getting. The final product was fabulous and looked just like the drawing (but even more impressive, of course!). Not only was the cake beautiful, but it also was delicious! We are so impressed by how pretty and how delicious her buttercream frosting was. It looks exactly like fondant but tastes delicious. Her price was also very competitive for her extremely high-quality product! She was also very kind and great to work with. We would highly recommend her and would pick her again and again!!” – Ressa
