It’s Spotlight Tuesday, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendor is so important on your wedding day. The photo booth vendor is responsible for capturing all of the great moments of your special day.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Marianthy Troupos Mendez of Omarvelous Productions.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
We provide a slow motion video booth, which is a unique & engaging alternative to your traditional photo booth. With goofy props, we film your guests in an opened aired booth for a couple of seconds and play it back instantly in slow motion on a 47-inch monitor. Later we take all of the final footage and edit it to music to great a memorable montage of the entire evening.
What did you do before you did this?
We both have a production background. My husband/business partner, Omar, comes from the film industry working on national commercials and feature films such as The Infiltrator & The Florida Project. I used to film live events at Disney and was a videographer for Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings years ago then moved on to live television at ESPN for several years.
When did you get into the wedding industry?
About 2 years now; we started our business in 2016.
What’s the best part of your job?
Making people laugh!
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
Being the highlight of their evening.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
My husband and business partner’s name is Omar. We met playing in a kickball social league and the back of his jersey said “Omarvelous.” I figured people could also interpret it as a play on words with the “O” representing Orlando and marvelous. 😉
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We take up quite a bit of space and it’s WAY more fun to have us in the reception area for all to see and interact with us. Besides the band and DJ, we genuinely bring another level of entertainment throughout the night for your guests.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
Our entire service is unique!
What types of events do you specialize in?
We have done just about every type of event you can think of…wedding, holiday parties, corporate events, at someone’s home for their 5-year-old’s birthday party, charity events, baby showers, etc.
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
We don’t have too many competitors within our direct category; however, I would say the quality in our videos and the variety of props makes us stand out. We’ve also created a signature with each couple at weddings where we give them a confetti cannon champagne bottle.
Why do couples hire you?
Because they want to do something different than a traditional photo booth. They want their guests to experience something unique. We’re also very reasonably priced.
What does your most popular package include? Tell us briefly about some of your package options. What is the price range for these packages?
Our most popular package includes having us for 3 hours (keep in mind that if your reception is 4 hours, we’re happy to come early, set up, walk away, and come back after dinner is served and toasts are done), a variety of props, and 14-21 business day turn-around for your final 3- to 5-minute edited video. We then send you a thumb drive of all the unedited individual videos from the evening.
We price from $850-$1300. We can customize packages, but currently, we have three. It all depends on the amount of time you want us there for, how quick you want your final edited video, and if you want to provide your guests with individual videos throughout the evening or the next day.
Why do you think your business is successful?
Because we’re only one of two companies within Central Florida who do this.
Omarvelous Productions shares some helpful information for engaged couples…..
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
How much space do you need? We take up about a 12×12 space and we should be close to power or an outlet to operate.
Can we bring our own props? ABSOLUTELY!! We always encourage you to add on. We had one couple build a pirate ship! We had another couple bring an inflatable T-Rex.
Can you send my guests their individual videos on the spot? Unfortunately, we can’t email them or text them their individual video instantly because we stay true to the HD quality, which causes the files to be too big. However, we do have a package option where we can upload the individual videos to an album that the guests will get access to. There they can share and download them.
What is your best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
Place us in the reception room with everyone. Don’t tuck us away where people can’t find us. We promise this brings such great entertainment for your guests who aren’t even participating because they’re watching from afar. Sometimes this even encourages them to jump in at some point!
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
That we’re too expensive. The average price for a slow motion video booth in the US is around $1200. Our base package starts at $850. We’re not much more expensive than your luxury photo booths.
What some of their previous couples had to say….
“This was, hands down, the BEST part of our wedding. Not only did the slow motion booth give all of our guests something different to do at the reception, but the fun continued for weeks afterward. Guests posted little clips of their slo-mo videos on social media during and after the wedding. Then, when the full video came out, it was like getting to relive the night! They created it really quickly and Omar and Marianthy were extremely professional and easy to work with. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to add a unique experience to their wedding. All of my guests were raving about how fun this was and we now have a video we can treasure forever of our friends and family at our wedding.” – Victoria & Matt Wasinger at The Ravenous Pig
“My husband and I decided that we definitely wanted something to entertain our guests at our wedding reception, but had grown kind of tired of the regular photo booth. Our wedding planner suggested Omarvelous Productions’ slow motion video booth instead, and we are so glad we chose them! The concept is fun and unique and our guests absolutely loved it! We had no idea it would be such a hit at the reception! Marianthy and Omar were absolutely amazing and so easy to work with. They were super responsive to our comments and questions delivered our final video within a week of the wedding! The video really captures the pure excitement and fun that we and all of our guests had on our wedding day. We will be watching our video for years to come!” – Alexa & Derek Gunsell at the Ritz Carlton
“We are so happy we had Omar and Marianthy and their slow motion booth at our wedding. It was so fun, our guests really had fun with the booth, and Omar and Marianthy were so fun and great to work with. Not only was the booth fun for those actively participating, but it was also fun that all the guests could watch on the large video screen as well. The final video, too, is hilarious, and something we keep watching and enjoying over and over. It brings an extra fun element that photos cannot capture, and shows who much fun our guests were having.” – Natalie & Chris Dunkel at Cypress Grove Estate House
Name 3 unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.
The Ringling is probably one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever had the opportunity to work at. The courtyard is split into thirds, so the couple used each area for the ceremony, pre-reception, & reception. The space was enormous which gave us plenty of room for our booth!
Loews Sapphire Falls Resort also has a gorgeous courtyard space which is the Cayman Court Lawn & Pavilion. The market lights and palm trees provide it a tropical feel. We hope to be back there soon.
Lastly, the most unique place we’ve worked is the Ravenous Pig! They provided us a perfect spot in the middle of the restaurant, which can be used for private dining. It was big enough for our setup and convenient for the guests.
