Did you know that not getting a wedding video is the #1 post-wedding regret? Even though you end the day with wonderful photos, it’s hard to relive the moment with static images. It made us think… what are the real reasons to hire a wedding videographer? We went right to the source and asked Lexi Rabelo Films to share her insight. She told us, “True, I’m a little biased when it comes to wedding videos, but I’ve been in the industry long enough that I’ve heard from countless couples why it’s so important to hire a wedding videographer.” Watch the video and then keep reading to understand why…
1. Wedding videos are not what you think
Wedding videographer no longer means lights-camera-action in your face all night. Most videographers now embrace a more documentary style of filming, meaning you might not even notice them.
2. Video captures movement and sounds that your photos can’t
Don’t get me wrong, photos are WONDERFUL! You can print them and hang them on your wall, but video captures audible moments, such as your mom’s tearful words of wisdom before the ceremony, your father’s reaction to seeing you in your outfit, or your grandmother’s laugh as she dances with your grandfather. These are the memories you’ll cherish long after your wedding day, and a video will preserve them forever. Video can also capture important reception moments, such as toasts and songs (first dance, anyone?) for you to share with your family in the future.
3. Video captures the in-between moments
Yes, your photographer will get both posed and candid shots, but for everything in between, you need a videographer. And since there’s no posing, you won’t have to worry about looking stiff or awkward on film. All you have to do is enjoy the party.
4. Wedding videos are not hour-long sagas
Forget the idea of a wedding video that plays out like a long, boring slideshow. Instead, most videographers simply capture the sweetest highlights and combine them into an engaging five-to-ten minute highlight. Some even offer longer, documentary-style edits or even sneak peek films. Always be sure to get a full brochure of what your potential videographers offer.
5. Capture friends and family in that stage of life
Whether you’re inviting grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, small children, teenagers, or babies to your wedding, it will be amazing to look back at your wedding video, to see how people have changed from then to now. Having that lifetime memory of grandparents, for example, could be priceless.
6. Watch your wedding video again and again
While you can’t hang your wedding video on your wall and see it every day like you can with your photos, you can find special times to watch it and let the memories come flooding back. Host a special viewing with your wedding party, and/or watch it every year on your anniversary. Your wedding video will make a special occasion even more special.
7. A keepsake for your future children
If you plan on having children in the future, or if you have them before you get married, having a recorded memory of your wedding day will be something for them to treasure and watch back in years to come.
8. Share your wedding video on social media
Aside from watching your wedding video on repeat at home – some videographers include a smaller file and a sneak peek film for you to share with your friends on social media.
9. No regrets!
You won’t want to get to the day after your wedding and then realize that you wish you would have hired a wedding videographer! It’s always best to use all of your options during planning if it is something that you really want.
And if that isn’t enough reasons to hire a wedding videographer, check out these words of wisdom from real, recently-married couples:
“Lexi Rabelo Films filmed our wedding and we couldn’t be more in love with it! It’s been four months and I still watch it pretty much daily – to which my husband just says, ‘watching it again, huh?’ Yes. I am. Always. Lexi and Daniel are a dream to work with. They are professional and so friendly to everyone present. I can’t recommend them highly enough! I want them to be present at every big event – or small event – in my life because they turn every moment into MAGIC.” – Lauren & Tyler
“If you are on the fence about getting a videographer—do it! We are so happy that we have a video that captures our favorite moments from the ceremony and reception. The day goes by in a blur and photos won’t give you the same effect as hearing special moments on video.” – Shannon & Ken
“There’s so much to take in as a couple on the wedding day, we so appreciated having a video of the ceremony, first dances, speeches, and all of the little details we worked so hard on planning for a year before our big day. There were little things that I didn’t notice on our wedding day because there was just so much going on and it goes by so quickly. The video helped make those small details feel totally worthwhile.” – Whitney & Sam
