We love a great Banff, Canaa proposal story, don’t you? One of their wedding vendors suggested that they share their story, we knew that we wanted to feature Megan & Matthew’s Banff marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met each other in high school in August of 2018. We were both in band, I was in Colorguard and he played the drums. The weekend before I started my freshman year of high school, our band program showed the DCI finals in the auditorium and he came over to talk to one of my team members that he was friends with and she introduced me.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
Since we live in Florida, we visit the theme parks often, our favorite is Universal’s Epic Universe. We also spend a lot of time at church at events and on the weekends.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
I was told my family and I were going on a family vacation to celebrate getting my bachelor’s degree and we were going to Banff, Alberta Canada. On the 2nd day of this trip we were taking a shuttle bus to one of the main attractions of this trip, Lake Louise. We arrive and take a few pictures then start a short walk around the lake to get away from the crowd.
My sister tells me to look out at the lake and she will take a pic from behind me, then she joins in, then my mom joins in for a long time posing facing the lake. Finally, I hear running behind me (which wasn’t abnormal for people to do since it was apart of a hiking trail) but as my sister and mom back away I feel an arm around my waist and Matt in my ear saying hi.
As I’m processing that its really him, he gets down on one knee to propose. I was completely shocked but of course said yes!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
The location but also being able to be with family and having multiple days on vacation to live in my fiancé bubble before having to go back to reality
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
My grandparents
Tell us about the ring!
Its from Monarch Jewelers. Its a Round cut diamond in a pave setting with a hidden halo.
Getting to say “My fiancé instead of my boyfriend”
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
I have been planning this for years and to see my dreams come true as it all comes together has been extremely exciting. I am so grateful for all the support my family has given me to have the wedding of my dreams and being able to personalize so many details.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
