Brittany and Chris Spade celebrated their spring Spanish inspired central Florida wedding at Mission Inn Resort. This stunning venue is an incredible Spanish style wedding venue in Florida. Wedding Venue Map loves featuring real weddings and events on our blog! We connected with them to find out more about their special day.
Tell us about a special moment from the day.
It was hard not being able to see Chris at all the morning of. I remember sitting out on my balcony after getting my hair and makeup done. I decided to take a moment to myself and write in the card I was planning to give to him before the ceremony. While writing, my emotions hit me like a ton of bricks. All the stress and trials we went through with planning was finally coming down to its final hours.
I remember pacing back and forth telling myself to calm down, everything is going to be perfect your marrying the man of your dreams and there’s nothing to be scared about……and that’s when I saw him. He was leading the way dressed in his tux handsome as ever, with his groomsmen in tow. We never made eye contact and he didn’t see me, but all it took was seeing him for those few seconds to calm my nerves. Somehow someone knew all I needed to do was look up and my nerves would be washed away.
Why did you choose Mission Inn Resort as your historic ceremony and reception venue?
My husband Chris and I toured the Historic Mission Inn in Howey-in-the-Hills. Needless to say, we fell Inn-Love with the venue. Our vision was brought to life in the Plaza de la Fontana courtyard. The courtyard captures timeless Spanish architecture. A beautiful fountain stands in the center and makes for a beautiful start of an aisle. The courtyard had a balcony that looked out onto a pond where a water feature is a focal point. The location was picture perfect for our golden hour wedding. We truly were able to capture our timeless romantic vision. We were swept away the moment we stepped into the courtyard.

Our ceremony didn’t need a whole lot of decorations in order to bring our vision to life. Plaza de la Fontana’s beauty speaks for itself. We had an arch at the alter that had champagne and toupee fabrics draped around it with a beautiful floral arrangement on the left-hand corner. Rose gold and white lanterns were placed at the base of each side of the arch that tied together with a romantic look. The moment you step down the aisle, you have the golden sun reflecting behind the alter which leaves you feeling like you’re in a modern-day fairy tale.

Our reception left Chris and I speechless seeing it for the first time. The guest tables were lined in champagne linens, silver beaded chargers that had folded mauve napkins wrapped around them. Menus were placed on top of the napkins and name cards in front of the charger. Sticking to Chris’s Italian roots, we placed little vials of olive oil with rosemary that were decorated with a chiffon ribbon and a tag that said Grazie at each place setting. Our tables were accented with garland running down the center with assorted hurricane candles on either side. A rose gold table number was placed in the center.
Our sweetheart table had a beautiful hedge wall placed behind us that held a custom The Spades sign in the center. Our table was lined in mauve linen and accented by a champagne napkin. Every little detail came to life in our reception space. The wedding was everything we dreamed of and more.
Wedding Venue Map tip: Don’t forget how many pictures will be taken of you at your sweetheart or head table – make sure to think about enhancing the decor for this special spot!
Wedding Venue Map tip: Think outside the box with your wedding desserts. Have a cake for the cutting photo op but add other sweet treats for your guests to enjoy!
What were the personal details of the wedding that are a great reflection of you as a couple?
Chris’s tux was lined with the Chicago Blackhawks logo, which if you know us you would know that we’re obsessed with them. We spend a lot of time bonding in the kitchen, so having vials of olive oil as our favors was an extension of our love for food.
Wedding Venue Map tip: Think about having a color palette for your wedding rather than just one or two colors!

It’s easy to get swept away in the awe of planning. Remind yourself to press the stop button at times and leave room for the here and now. There is a time to disengage from planning and remembering to still focus on growing as a couple.
