We love a great Central Florida wedding proposal story, don’t you? Taylor Cowan and Kyle Grace share their beach day proposal story.
Share with us how you met each other.
Kyle and I actually went to high school together and hung out with the same crowd but never dated or really even talked much. We do have a picture from senior homecoming that is still one of my favorites because I’m in my high heels and he’s standing on his tiptoes. Fast forward 3 years after graduation, we reconnected at a friend’s get together.
Kyle approached me first and started a conversation and I thought, “Okay this is weird. We weren’t friends like that.” The conversation carried on throughout the day and we ended up meeting up that night with a couple friends to hang out some more. Kyle ended up asking me on a date and the rest is history.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
Go on bike rides on our tandem bike, go to the beach, paddleboard, work on improving our new house together.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
2 years
Share your proposal story…
Kyle insisted I take off work on a Monday and just spend the day together. I didn’t think anything of it. I had been working a lot and just graduated nursing school so we were trying to spend as much time together as possible. We spent the day at the beach and went to dinner at my favorite restaurant which is also where we had one of our first dates.
Kyle kept mentioning that his stomach hurt all day long. I offered him a Tums and we carried on with our day. After dinner, Kyle mentioned we should go on a bike ride to what we called “the deer spot”. We did this often as a nice relaxation from my studying for school. It was truly one of our favorite things to do.
We were on our ride on our two-seater bike and Kyle was sweating so bad. It was such a nice evening so I thought he was crazy. We finally get to “the deer spot” and while I was looking through the binoculars, I heard Kyle get my attention. I looked down and there he was, on a knee. The easiest “YES” I have ever said! He’s still upset that I dropped his good hunting binoculars on the cement (oops).
Did anyone help with the proposal?
Kyle was so hush hush about it! He asked my parents for their blessing but nobody knew when he was going to do it.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
I FaceTimed my sister right away! My sister is a Marine so she isn’t able to be home through all the planning but she is an important person to me and I keep her up to date on all things!
Tell us about the ring!
My ring is my dream come true! It’s exactly what I have pinned on all my Pinterest boards (LOL). He got it from International Diamond Center who also gives discounts to first responders which is a huge plus considering Kyle is a firefighter.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
I’m so excited to plan the most amazing event of our lives! I can’t wait to marry my best friend surrounded by all of closest family and friends.
We are getting married at Bridle Oaks in DeLand, FL. Our date is December 12, 2020.
Why did you choose that venue?
The ceremony is outdoors and the reception is in a beautiful barn. We love being outdoors and love the look of greenery. The ceremony spot is unmatched with the most beautiful trees and the barn is rustic yet elegant.
Congratulations Taylor & Kyle!! We CANNOT wait to share your wedding photos!
