We love a great at-home proposal story, don’t you? When we saw these pictures, we knew that we wanted to feature Amanda & Jarrod’s Central Florida at-home marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
Jarrod and I met at the Most Magical Place on Earth, both working at Walt Disney World! At the time, we were both in our own relationships and didn’t really try to get to know one another – especially since we were opposites. As two years passed, we both ended up single and invited to the same outing. We instantly connected and were talking the whole night! Our first date was just a few days later!
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
Some of our favorite activities are: Watching movies, playing video games together, building Lego sets, and trying new restaurants.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
2 years and 3 months.
Did anyone help with the Central Florida at home marriage proposal?
One of my bridesmaids and best friends, Candace Sandoval, helped out with the proposal by not only getting me out of the house for Jarrod to set everything up that he wanted, but by getting my boss involved to make sure my meetings were moved around! She also made sure to take photos and film the proposal!
Share your marriage proposal story…
On April 16th, I got asked by one of my best friends, Candace, to go out to breakfast with her at Keke’s because she needed to have some stress-free time. I asked Jarrod as we would have had the day off together and he said “Sure. I’ll find things to do around the house”. Jarrod also helped pick out my outfit – so I should have been suspicious then!
I met Candace at Keke’s and she was telling me she wasn’t in a rush even though she worked later as she was so excited to be out with me. I’m pretty sure I drank 9 cups of coffee for as long as we were there. After some time, she asked to come back to my house for the meeting we both had.
We both pulled up to my house and I hit the garage opener in my car- as I always do. I hear Candace yell to me, “Close the door!”.
I looked at Candace and started to tear up and smile. I asked her where I was going as I had an idea that something was up.
Candace tells me she had to walk through our front door first and once she opened the door, I could hear Jarrod and mine’s song and see flowers, pictures, and balloons. I instantly start to break down and can’t even walk through the door as I knew I had to compose myself!
Jarrod closed the door for me as I couldn’t stop wiping my tears away and started to say his speech. As he got down on one knee, my head just started to shake “Yes” as I knew it was the easiest decision to make!
Something I didn’t know was that Candace told my boss that we had to cancel the meeting without me knowing so I wouldn’t get suspicious. She also told our waiter at Keke’s while I was in the bathroom what was happening so he could lengthen our time there, hence the 8 cups of coffee! I was so surprised at how much planning went into it and it made my heart feel overjoyed!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
Seeing how much Jarrod put thought into everything, down to printing out photos and buying special wine glasses for us to celebrate and even making a playlist to play while he proposed!
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
The first person I instantly FaceTimed was my Mom, while she was in a Dollar Tree. She didn’t recognize it at first and then when she saw the ring, she screamed “OMG” out loud and shouted, “my daughter just got engaged!”. You could hear people clapping in the back and it was so fun!
Tell us about the ring!
My ring is a carat in total, pear-shaped with a halo of diamonds around the center diamond. There are also diamonds on the band and under the setting! The ring was from International Diamond Center and we actually went looking together and when I tried it on, I teared up. Jarrod did not buy it at the moment, with me there, but did go back to get it days later!
It definitely is still surprising! Even after 4 months, I am still amazed that it’s happened! I find myself even tearing up when I tell the story and reliving the moment!
What I’ve enjoyed the most is that Jarrod will occasionally pick up my left hand and smile at the ring and say how he’s so excited to marry me!
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Jarrod and I were most excited when we chose our venue! We both instantly fell in love and were so happy that we had the same feeling!
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We are getting married on October 17, 2022, in Tavares, FL at the Pavilion on the Lake!
Why did you choose that venue?
The venue has the most amazing pier and large floor-to-ceiling windows on the back of the building that looks out to the lake! We both smiled and knew we were going to choose this location when we came across it!
