It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Bumby Grimm of Bumby Photography.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
I capture real-life love story photos and, since I love romantic movies, I get to feel like I’m in one every day.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
Back in 2007, I was blackmailed by a friend to photograph her wedding and ever since then I fell in love with weddings and taking photos of those special moments.
How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?
I have done a lot of continuing education as well as getting out and shooting a lot of one-on-one mentoring sessions. I am constantly learning new things about what I do.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
I love everything about what I do, but my favorite part is being able to capture images that my couples can share with their families and friends for years to come. I want to create memories that will last for generations.
What’s the best part of your job?
I absolutely love connecting with my couples and watching them say, “I do.”
What motivates you to do this every day?
Getting to know my couples and then seeing their happiness when I show them their final images.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
That my real name is Kristina and I didn’t know it until kindergarten.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
That when I arrive they feel that everything is going to be okay. I have kept them calm throughout the entire process, so they know I’m always going to be there and have their best interests in mind. I keep it all together and if there’s a problem, I have a solution. I always try to find the light in any situation so it doesn’t ruin their special day.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
It’s my name and it’s original.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
That we want everything to be fun and to go as smoothly as possible. We always put them as the focus in all that we do.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
We offer friendship and a lot of corny jokes that don’t start out as jokes but eventually turn into them. Also, my albums! I absolutely love my albums.

Weddings, Engagements, Boudoir
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
We become more like family than photographer and client. I take time to really get to know my couples and I want them to get to know me, too.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
I love couples who are excited about being engaged and who love to have fun.
Why do couples hire you?
They feel I’m organized and I always have a plan, as well as a backup plan or two. I can be silly and make couples feel totally at ease. I truly care about them and I am willing to take charge if need be to make sure it all goes smoothly for their wedding day.
What does your most popular package include? What is the price range for these packages?
Our most popular package includes two photographers and an engagement session.
Our collections range from $2,800 to $11,000 and most collections have two photographers.
Why do you think your business is successful?
My couples. I connect and build relationships with them as well as the rest of their families. My couples are the foundation of everything I do.

What is the best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
There is always one thing I make sure to tell all of my couples. They need to set aside time either weekly or bi-weekly to hang out and reconnect. No wedding talk, no business talk. They just need to sit and relax and enjoy each other’s company.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
I believe the biggest misconception is that it’s just a click of a button and anyone can do it. They don’t realize how much goes into planning from the photography standpoint. We take the time to create the best timeline so my couples receive the work they expect from what they have seen on my website. We capture all the details that no one thinks about and we take as much time as we need to go over everything so that nothing is missed.
Name three unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.
Up the Creek Farms: I love working with their amazing staff. Pretty much every spot on their property is perfect for taking photos. I love the Spanish moss hanging from the old oaks and the scenery is gorgeous. Also, we love taking photos in front of their boathouse doors. Overall it’s just a beautiful property and with a ceremony space under their large oaks and a reception space perfect for dancing the night away. We just always enjoy working there!
Rocking H Ranch: My absolute favorite part is their long driveway under a canopy of trees. I love the big oak out back you get married under and their outdoor reception option under the twinkling lights and trees is perfection. The house is full of Southern charm, which speaks right to my heart.
Cypress Grove: I love their driveway covered with a canopy of trees. There is nothing more breathtaking than their lakeside ceremony space. I also adore the old house and outdoor space underneath the lights by the lake. It really captures that Southern feel.
