It’s Spotlight Tuesday, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding planner is so important on your wedding day. The wedding planner helps your planning go smoothly and makes your visions come to life.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Caitlin Jones of Plan It Events.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
I take the stress of wedding planning away in a calm, timely, and organized manner. I deliver the wedding of my client’s dreams in the best way possible!
What did you do before you did this?
I’ve worked in retail, HR, hotels, and country clubs.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
About 10 years ago, I was working at a country club in the Events department setting up and serving at events. I saw all that went into it and it piqued my interest. I also interned doing wedding planning and knew it was a great fit!
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
I became the owner of my company in 2012, but have been involved with weddings since 2009.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
It’s so rewarding to directly be a part of someone’s WEDDING day, a day they will remember for the rest of their lives. To know I helped to make it flawless truly makes it all worth it.
What’s the best part of your job?
I work for myself so I make my own schedule and am my own boss! I also have the best clients and colleagues.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
My dad was born in Cuba and came to the US when he was only five. I’m a proud Cuban American!
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
My calm demeanor. That can make or break a wedding day, whether dealing with a vendor team, family members, or the client directly. If I’m calm, then everyone else is calm.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
It was decided for me when I bought it but I do hear a lot of people say, “let’s just plan it.” It kind of fits. 😉
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
People want to work with us because we are very laid back and relaxed. No stuffy wedding planners here. We are very service oriented—it’s in our blood.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
We’ve taken the time to curate our packages so they fit our clients’ needs best. There’s no extra fluff that you won’t need, just straightforward so we can do our jobs and do them well.
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
Personality. Similar to what they need to know before they book us. You want to make sure your personality matches, no matter which company you hire. Our reviews from our clients say it best. Organization, preparedness, approachability.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
One that values our services! They understand why they hired us and let us do our jobs. We work well together to produce the best end result. They have a clear vision and are punctual and respectful. We love working with people that we feel we can be friends with after the wedding is done.
Why do couples hire you?
I’ve heard from a lot of couples they hire us because they feel comfortable from the moment they meet with us. If you’re not comfortable with your planner, how do you think your wedding will turn out?
What does your most popular package include?
Our middle package includes up to five planning meetings, design assistance, and budget review. Planning Guidance is what we call it and that’s exactly what you get.
Why do you think your business is successful?
I stay focused on bettering myself and my business as a whole. Our clients have gotten us where we are today, as well as the relationships I’ve built along the way. Referrals are our biggest source of business.
Tell us briefly about some of your package options. What is the price range for these packages?
Our services are built to accommodate our clients’ biggest needs with wedding planning, no matter where they are in the process. We offer Month-Of Coordination, Planning Guidance, and Full-Service Planning. Prices range from $1,600-$5,000.
Plan It Events shares some helpful information for engaged couples…..
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
Can I just hire you for the day of my wedding? That’s a big fat “no.” We would fail miserably if we depended on the couple to give us all of the information we needed to do our jobs well. We like to take the time to get to know every detail you’ve planned (if you’re wanting a ‘day of planner’) so that you just have to show up and we’re not bugging you with questions.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
That they can pay us $400 to work for ONE day (wedding day), that our jobs are very glamorous, and all we do is play with linens/flowers, that on wedding days we just sit back and relax (all of these could not be more wrong).
What some of their previous couples had to say….
“Caitlin had every minute planned out: from when my wife arrived at the venue to get ready at 9 am to clean-up at 11 pm, and the entire wedding went off without a hitch! In the blur of the wedding day, I even heard our photographers and videographers saying how this was the first wedding they’ve been to where there weren’t any delays or mishaps.” – Chris, Cypress Grove Estate House
“I was able to text her about anything whenever I needed and she would respond promptly and kindly. The day of I had no worries because I knew she and her team had everything under control and could handle anything that would have come up! I highly recommend her and Plan It!! You were amazing Caitlin! :)” – Kelly, Bella Collina
“There was not one thing for me to criticize because everything that I had imagined my wedding to be and look like was there. Honestly, I’d get married all over again with Caitlin’s help! If you are looking for a wedding planner, you cannot go wrong with her.” – Lindsay, Orchid Garden
