Christmas Marriage Proposal

We love a great Christmas proposal story, don’t you? When they shared their story and their proposal with us, we knew that we wanted to feature Kody and Sadie’s Christmas marriage proposal story.

Share with us when and how you met each other.

Kody and I met each other in high school around freshman year. We didn’t start dating until sophomore year. We did not go to the same highschool and he ended up moving schools. Consistently, we ended up in the same 5th period and have been together since. We first started dating on 07/29/2018, and we graduated in 2020 during COVID.

What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?

We enjoy spending time with our friends and family! Every year, we go to Hogwaller and spend Thanksgiving out there camping. We love boating, the beach, and going to Key West!

How long were you together before getting engaged?

 6 years.

Did anyone help with the Christmas marriage proposal?

 Only my mom.

Share your Christmas marriage proposal story…

I was getting ready for my mom’s annual Christmas party she has every year! I was very excited as Christmas is my favorite holiday. We had all of our favorite people there more than last year, so I was a little suspicious. But we continued with the party and started White Elephant.

My mom had passed out all the numbers and Kody “magically” got number 1 to pick the first gift (I had no idea and was not suspicious at all at this point) I’m also very serious about White Elephant and Kody ended up picking the ugliest and heaviest box out of the bunch and I kept telling him not to pick that box and he was persistent on THAT box.

I’m sitting there waiting for the box to be open and there is nothing in the box it’s filled with paper and I look up to see my mom taking a video from across the room tearing up, and it hit me then he was already on one knee with the ring asking me to marry him. I started crying, and so did everyone else. It was the most magical moment.

couple that just got engaged during the holidays, showing off their engagement ring on their Christmas marriage proposal.

I said “I knew it. Yes” We ended up celebrating the entire night with all our friends and family!

What was the best moment of the proposal?

Thinking that he was actually opening a white elephant gift! LOL

Who did you tell that you were engaged first?

All of our family and friends were there for the proposal

Tell us about the ring!

Gold marquise with smaller diamonds on the side. He actually picked out different ring, and it never showed up so last second he went looking again and found my ring. It was like it was meant to be.

What aspect of being engaged has surprised you the most?

Planning the wedding, I did not think it was going to be as stressful as it has been.

All the love surrounding us, and how exciting it is.

Engagement Session 4

What are you most excited about wedding planning?

Most excited to plan a night for all our friends and family to enjoy but also a very special night for us. I have thought about every detail and even if it doesn’t go as planned I’m just excited for everyone to be together to celebrate us and this new chapter in our lives.

If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?

January 17th 2026 The Wedding Barn in Oviedo

Engagement Session 2

Why did you choose that venue?

It is close to our families and where we grew up together.

Engagement Session 1

We knew weddings can get out of control fast, so we decided to be intentional. We invested in the pieces that matter to us and didn’t feel pressured by trends. If something doesn’t genuinely add joy or purpose to the day, we don’t spend on it.

Emerald green, black, gold and off white. It’s a very overgrown forest theme.

Have you selected any other vendors for your wedding?

  • Bryan Geraldino Photo & Film
  • Stacie M Hair
  • Hair Stylist Leah
  • Drake Photography

My biggest piece of advice is to plan your wedding like you’re planning a memory. Trends fade away and people won’t remember certain parts of the wedding. Choose vendors who calm you, not just impress you. Choose details that mean something, not just match something and don’t let the budget go toward things meant to impress strangers.
