Hiring the right wedding vendors is so important on your wedding day. The vendors help create the backdrop of every moment, every picture, and every memory. It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Ilana Karcinski & Kelly Maronpot of FairyTail Pet Care.

How long would you say you have been doing what you do today?

Founded in 2015, we are the first wedding day pet care company in the US.

How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?

When we started, no one else was offering a service like ours. It was a novel idea and we had to put in a lot of leg work to educate vendors and couples on exactly what we offered.

With every wedding, we learned something new and have used those experiences to create the packages we offer today. Our video service started with the idea to have the dog wear a GoPro camera down the aisle so we could get that unique perspective. What it’s turned into today is a professionally filmed and edited video of the wedding day, all from the pet’s point of view.

We are continuing to learn and evolve our services every day as this industry grows, and we are so excited to see what the future for “wedding day pet care” will look like!

What is your favorite part about working for this company?

Spending time with so many incredible animals, of course! We love hearing how your pet became a part of the family, as well. Talking about your dogs is the best way to connect with our couples on a personal level.

What does a typical day look like?

We will pick up your pup for their big wedding day adventure. We’ll spend time with them getting exercise & just letting them sniff around the new environments. This gives them time to really feel comfortable before any photos or the ceremony. Once it’s time to include them in photos, we work closely with your photographer so that you get the pawfect shot! If you’d like your pup to be a part of the ceremony, of course, we’re there to ensure everything goes seamlessly. It can be fun to stick around for a bit of cocktail hour & let your guests get a few snuggles in before we head back home & get your pups all settled in for the night.

What motivates you to do this every day?

We are committed to volunteering our time to FairyTail approved shelters. Not only does this hands-on approach give these animals in need the love and care deserve, but it also provides us with the invaluable experience of working with animals from all walks of life.

What gets you most excited about the wedding day?

We love the first time the bride or groom sees their pup on the wedding day. When done right, including your dog in your wedding, can be a stress reliever! Their presence can really bring you back to the present moment & remind you what this special day is all about!

What fun fact would people be interested to learn about you?

The founders of the company, Kelly and Ilana, have been best friends since they were 13 years old. They initially bonded over their love for music and animals and the rest is history!

How do you spend your time away from work?

When we’re not spending time with our client’s pets we are loving on our own, of course! We also spend a lot of time volunteering for our local shelters to help homeless animals connect with their forever homes. Aside from animals, traveling & music are a big part of our lives, too!

What is the most unique service you offer?

Our ‘Dog of Honor’ Videography service is absolutely one-of-a-kind. We follow your pup around on their FairyTail adventure, capturing the candid, heartwarming moments that only a dog can bring, as well as many of the details from your wedding. Our videos are professionally edited and filmed and show a unique perspective of your wedding day from your best friend’s POV!

Simple, they love their pets and consider them a part of the family.

What sort of budget should your clients have to work with you?

Our pricing is very customizable because each pet’s personality & how they will be included in the day varies from couple to couple. Pricing starts at $300.

Why do you think your business is successful?

We saw a need in the wedding industry that was missing. Couples wanted to include their best friend on the big day, but the logistics were overwhelming. We make it possible for our couples AND their pets to have the best day ever!

Have you won any awards for what you do?

We have won Best Pet Sitting 4 years in a row & recently had the chance to work with Kevin O’Leary from Shark Tank on a project.

What current trends have you seen at weddings that you personally like the most?

Well, of course, we love seeing more couples including their pets on their wedding day! It’s been fun to see the creative ways couples are incorporating their furry best friend into their details as well. For example, naming a signature cocktail after their pet or having giant cut-outs made for the photo booth. So much fun!

What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?

If you want to have your pet in your wedding, this automatically means they will be in the ceremony. There are so many other ways to include your pet on your big day! Couples think their dog is “too crazy” or will be “too overwhelmed” but, in our experience, if you plan the day with your pet’s personality in mind, it can be a positive experience for everyone, especially for the pup!

Best piece of advice to reduce stress in the planning process?

Hire a professional team of vendors. We are here to help bring your dreams to life & ensure you have the best day ever!

What do you think your couples can do to combat nerves on the wedding day?

We can plan for your pet to visit you while you’re still getting ready. Getting a few pets & snuggles in before the ceremony can go such a long way to ease those wedding day jitters!

Name three unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.

Club Lake Plantation – We love how much space we have to explore with our wedding pups at this venue. We’re able to spend time indoors too, including the bride & groom suites so we’re able to spend time with them while they are still getting ready.
Casa Feliz– We love this gorgeous venue! It is conveniently located, yet still secluded & private. We are so appreciative that they will allow pets to join the celebration, even though they are not allowed inside the historical building.
Capen House-Such a beautiful location for a wedding! We always enjoy walking around with our wedding dogs & exploring the beautiful property.
