Share with us when and how you met each other.
We were high school sweethearts in 2000-2001. I was almost 16 and he was 17. We met in shop class and he saved me from another student that would not leave me alone by having our shop teacher move me to his table. We dated for about a year and went our separate ways. We always remained friends over the years and kept in contact.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We love spending time together outside, working on projects together around the house, going out with our children, and conquering escape rooms are our typical date night activities.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
5 months this time.
Did anyone help with the Florida Keys marriage proposal?
My grandmother and my two oldest daughters (16 and 15).
Share your marriage proposal story…
We started dating again on October 15, 2020. I was living in Florida at the time and he was in Tennessee. He moved back here to make things work and when we went on vacation in May of 2021 to the Keys to see my grandmother, he enlisted the help of my grandmother and children to propose at sunset in a spot that I had spent many years visiting. It was right off the water on the gulf coast.
We were taking “family” pictures at sunset and at one point he was behind me holding my hand. He called me by my name (which he never does) and when I turned around to see what was going on, he was down on one knee telling me he had spent the last 20 years loving me and he didn’t want to wait anymore for me to be his wife! Of course, I said yes!!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
When he was shaking as he told me that I had been the love of his life for 20 years and he didn’t want to live another 20 without me as his wife!
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
Our families respectively.
Tell us about the ring!
Vintage oval diamond with 10 smaller diamonds surrounding the larger stone on a solid white gold band.
That complete and total happiness is an actual thing!
Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with my person!
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
How stress-free and easy it is when you are on the same page as a couple.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
October 15, 2021, Bulow Creek State Park, Ormond Beach.
Why did you choose that venue?
It is a beautiful outdoor space with gorgeous hundred-year-old oak trees.
