We love a great Arizona proposal story, don’t you? When we heard this story, we knew that we wanted to feature Carolina & Jacob’s Horseshoe Bend marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
Jake had moved down to Miami, Florida in January 2020. I, Carolina, am a Miami native-born and raised. Both were very much committed to our work but decided to try out bumble (he was my second date and I was his third date!) We met for a drink at the Wharf in Miami at the end of February 2020, When we went to head up to the bar we both ordered a Jameson and ginger ale at the same time and we looked at each other and laughed.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
Our entire relationship grew through the quarantine. So we did workouts at home, watched old movies, and took a lot of naps together. We decided to follow TikTok recipes and made different things including hot Cheeto grilled cheese sandwiches to spicy chicken pepper.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
We were together exactly one year before the proposal. He proposed on our one-year anniversary at the top of Horseshoe Bend.
Did anyone help with the Horseshoe Bend marriage proposal?
No one helped with the proposal. Jake kept it a secret and he asked for my hand from my brother and my mother before our trip. Jake picked out the ring himself.

We headed on a 4-day adventure to travel through the Canyons and Las Vegas. Our first stop was in Las Vegas. We picked up a car at the airport and toured the city. We had our first sleep at the Cosmopolitan, in a beautifully decorated room. I thought it was so romantic.
The next day we headed out to Zion. We were going to go “glamping” (sleep in a tent but with modern technology availability). As we got to our destination we did not realize how cold it was going to be. We went to sleep and woke up in a sheet of white. It had snowed overnight and we had 4 inches of snow on the ground. We were not prepared! However, this did not stop us.
We headed toward Zion and it was snowing and were unable to see much. We were a little disappointed but decided to continue. We finally got the sun breaking through in the afternoon and were able to do Angel’s Landing! Our first victory of the trip. We finished the day and headed towards Bryce canyon, another few hours away. We had a quiet dinner and went to sleep early.
The next day we woke up to -2 below zero. We thought… “oh no! not another canyon we won’t be able to see”. However, by the time it became 8 am it was the most beautiful day we could’ve asked for. We spent the day exploring the canyon, taking pictures. I thought to myself, wow this has been an amazing trip; just one more to go, and then it’s over! I don’t want to go home.

During our ride towards Horse Shoe bend, Jake thought he had lost his GoPro camera. I went in search forward through our things as he drove. When I tried to search his jacket he swerved and we almost went off the road! He told me “I would’ve known if it was in my jacket!” Little did I know there was a surprise in that jacket for me.
We arrived at our hotel and dressed in a hurry so we wouldn’t miss the sunset at Horse Shoe Bend. I had been waiting the whole trip for the Bend because it is my favorite place I have seen in photographs! I was very excited. We took a short 10-minute walk into the area and got to the bend.
It was beautiful. We started to take pictures. He told me to ask one of those nice girls to take a photo for us. Little did I know he had already asked someone else to film. As we stood together for a picture opportunity, right in front of the amazing Horse Shoe bend, he told me to stop!
There was something he’s been waiting all his life to ask. Then, he got on one knee and opened the red box he had been carrying in his jacket this whole time. He asked me, as the sunset began to set if I would be his wife. And I said yes!!!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
Everyone heard his speech and waited for me to give my answer. As I did, they clapped and cheered and wished us many blessings.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
The bride’s mother and then the groom’s mother.
Tell us about the ring!
The ring is a stunning pear-shaped diamond and has two small baguettes on either side.
How much it has unified us. It has taken our relationship to another level. The trust, the happiness, the commitment is so beautiful.
Planning the wedding!! I have been obsessed with wedding TikToks and this is going to be the event of the year! Haha (at least for me).
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Seeing my visions come to life and celebrating our union with all those we love.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
April 9, 2022, at the Luxmore Grande Estate.
