It’s Spotlight Day! Where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding venues and the stories behind their companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding venue is so important on your wedding day. The venue is the backdrop of every moment, every picture and every memory. It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Hannah Cummings of Idlewood Venue.
When people ask “what do you do”, how do you answer?
A little bit of everything in a lot of places. I oversee and manage the wedding venues in Polk County. While overseeing all of Polk Counties catering needs and have a working relationship with over 10 venues. So if a client finds that our two Venues are not a fit for them we are still able to lead them in the right direction while still offering them catering needs at a Venue of there choice.
What did you do before you did this?
I have always been in the hospitality industry, every job was ether in catering or a restaurant while I attended Rosen College of Hospitality.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
As I worked towards a degree in Event Management I applied to several internships and fell in love with planning and being apart of the wedding world. Growing up in Charleston I was constantly surrounded by Southern Hospitality, even when I would get in trouble, my punishment would be ironing the linen tablecloths and napkins.
What motivates you to do this every day?
Not be able to see my self do any other job in the world. I don’t do Hospitality, I am Hospitality.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
The relationship with the people and clients has to be my top. I live for making people happy and meeting new faces. I have an education in this, I live breath and eat Hospitality and some of our clients have no idea what to do. There is just something about a stranger trusting you with their special day that makes you feel great inside sharing all your knowledge with them and helping where you can.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
Having the ability to staying cool, calm and collected. Even at the moments that there is nothing that could change an outcome or something that would be out of my personal control, my team and I will do whatever we can to help solve any problem at hand without being stressed or showing any hesitation.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
Well, the street we are on made that desition very easy for us, and we felt Idlewood matched the industrial chic look we were hoping to achieve.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We are an in-house catering company based out of Orlando, while we offer a beautiful venue for any special occasion, you must also use our in-house catering and bar services.
What type of events do you specialize in?
Mostly weddings with a side of corporate and charity.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
Clients who have an understanding of the industry or clients that have never done this before but have taken the time to search, educated and get a true idea for what they want and what it will take to achieve their goal.
Why do couples hire you?
We offer a sense of warmth, as good southern hospitality should. We also have very high expectations for ourselves and the staff. We understand that although we may have done this a hundred times, this may be their first experience and we want to share that with them and offer patience and that best we can give.
What does your most popular package include?
The most popular packages are our Wedding Venue packages with Fench Country Reception chairs, round tables, and white folding ceremony chairs. Our most popular menu is our buffet, which offers 3 passed hors d’oeuvres, 1 salad, 2 sides and 2 main entrees with butter and rolls. All of our proposals include all your catering needs such as staff, china, silverware, preset waters, and vendor meals.
Tell us briefly about some of your package options. What is the price range for these packages?
All of our pricing is very customizable. Our Venue ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 depending on the day of the week or if it is taking place in the morning or evening, while our catering is sold separately per person.
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
Can we bring our own liquor/food and what is your minimum spending? Unfortunately, due to our licensing, you do have to use our inventory of liquor and food. When we work with other Venues, we do allow for a corkage fee, where you provide liquor and we serve your bar. But, we can not offer that at our Venue. We also have a minimum spending of $3,000.
The best piece of advice for brides or grooms.
Do your due diligence in research and know your budget. Vendors of all sorts; catering, venue, Dj, everyone offers very different things at very different prices at very different standards. Try to understand why someone chargers more than the other, it could be because of there experience and service style or that they just have the opportunity to offer you more in their packages.
Here is what some previous couples had to say…
“Thank you, Chef Lo, Hannah, Jay and the whole staff at Idlewood Venue. The planning started two months in advance but it allowed me to put together the party I wanted for my guests. Every aspect was upscale and professional. I couldn’t have been more pleased with our new Bartow venue. The best part, I didn’t have to get married and I didn’t have to cook. Love you all.” – Julie C.
“Awesome group of people running the organization lead by a talented highly skilled Chef trained at one of the best culinary arts schools, Johnson and Wales, Rhode Island.” – Kon C.
A beautiful venue! Perfect for any occasion! AMAZING staff!!!” – Heather C.
