We love a great Orlando marriage proposal story, don’t you? When we saw their submission, we knew that we wanted to feature Monica and Richie’s Lake Eola marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met at my neighbor’s house. Richie was visiting his best friend for a BBQ in April 2019. I arrived, walked to the patio where he was, and we instantly knew we loved each other. We never said anything though!
Months later, I went to Jam Night with my friends. He was there, playing the drums. We performed a song together and started talking and dating after that.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We love to play musical instruments and sing with our friends, Star Wars, Disney, beach, road-trips, movies, staying home… we’re all about our family.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
3 years
Did anyone help with your Lake Eola marriage proposal?
Our friends and family, Susie Duross, Wendy Gray, Sharon Sutera, Andy Castaglione, and Brianna Moore
Share your marriage proposal story…
I was walking to lunch down Lake Eola Park with my coworker, Wendy. We work at The University Club of Orlando and our offices are next to the park. As we walked through the park, I began to see Richie wearing a suit, carrying flowers and I immediately knew what was about to happen. He stood in front of me and began to tell me his feelings. He kneeled down on one knee and asked me if I would marry him. I said ‘Yes”, of course!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
Listening to Richie say the words he said.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
My boss, Jay Butler. I was on a lunch break and taking too long!
Tell us about the ring!
The stone was Richie’s grandmother’s, a round cut. Andy Castiglione is the designer, it feels vintage. Richie purchased it from Castiglione Jewelers in Johnstown, NY.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Trying on wedding dresses!
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
Because it is perfect for us, they have the best food, the best service, it’s stunning inside, and Wendy Gray makes us feel so taken care of and is a pleasure to work with.
