It’s Spotlight Day! Where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and the stories behind their companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendors is so important on your wedding day. The vendors help create the backdrop of every moment, every picture, and every memory. It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Kellie Warren and Lindsay Widdall of Live Happy Studio.
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
Phew, a long time! We have been in the wedding business for over 12 years. It’s definitely not our first rodeo. We love it!
What motivates you to do this every day?
Couples motivate us to do this every day. They are so happy when they receive their wedding images – there is nothing like it! Plus, everyone we work with on their wedding days is amazingly happy! It puts everyone in a good mood.
What fun-fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
Kellie: Love sprinkles, mountain bikes, and adventuring.
Lindsay: Loves chocolate, adventuring and before she shot weddings, she was a skydiving photographer and did over 7,000 jumps!
How do you spend your time away from work?
When we’re not working we love to road trip around the country taking photos and experiencing new places. We spend most of our time hanging out in state parks and national parks. If there is a national park we haven’t been to, it’s on our list. We love the great outdoors! We enjoy mountain biking crazy downhill bike parks as well as eating great food.
What gets you most excited about the wedding day?
What really gets us excited is hearing the new ideas couples have for their big day. For example, when a bride tells us she’s going to do a first look in a dinosaur costume, or there’s going to be a live band to spice up the evening or maybe even a surprise serenade from a groom who just can’t sing, but fully commits (https://www.livehappystudio.com/orlando-wedding-photography-videography-blog/2020/5/30/unique-way-to-suprise-your-bride-on-your-wedding-day-orlando-wedding-photographer)
What is your favorite wedding tradition?
The Jewish tradition of the Hora. If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience it, it’s so much fun. A couple of strapping guys usually hoist the couple in chairs high up in the air and dance around the room with them. So many fun opportunities for fun expressions, excitement, and happiness in the images. Gotta love being right in the middle of all the action!
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
We feel like the most unique service we offer is our 2 week turnaround time on all edited images. We think it’s important to get the images back to the couple when their excitement is at its highest. You’ve just gotten back from your honeymoon and you’ve got all of your images in the mail!
What sort of budget should your clients have to work with you?
Our packages start at $800 and range up to $3400.
Can you tell us more about your team?
Kellie has been a photographer and videographer for over 10 years and was born and raised in Orlando. She has had a passion for photography since she was knee-high to a grasshopper (which she still is). She likes to get artistic and unusual shots, so you may find her laying on the floor or hiding in bushes, as you do!
Lindsay has also been doing photography and videography for over 10 years. She was born in the UK, before bouncing around the world and landing in Orlando. She’s super organized so makes sure everyone is in the right place at the right time and you stay on schedule, plus she’s pretty good with a camera too 🙂
They both love traveling, dogs, bike riding, rollercoasters, and anything else that can slap a grin on your face…..especially weddings!
What do you love about having a wedding business in Central Florida?
The weather! We usually have pretty great weather year-round in Florida. It’s the sunshine state, so why would you move anywhere else!
What makes Live Happy Studio stand out from others in your category?
I think our personalities make us stand out in our category. Not only do we take pretty pictures, we do that too, but more importantly we put our clients at ease on their big day so we can get real smiles.
Tell us about your ideal client.
Our ideal couple is a couple who is a little quirky! We love different.
The best piece of advice to reduce stress in the planning process.
Plan early. If you’re looking for discounts, going to wedding shows is one of the biggest advantages for you! Wedding shows have tons of vendors all in the same room, so you’ll be able to compare, contrast and have an opportunity to meet the faces behind the websites. Also, if you have parents who really want to help, let them help. Just give them something super specific to help you with so they feel more involved and you can help reduce the stress.
What do you think your couples can do to combat nerves on the wedding day?
One thing we recommend if you’re up for it, is to have a first look. This is the best way to combat the nerves. You get a chance to see each other and share a private moment rather than worrying about holding yourself together when you walk down the aisle.
What current trends have you seen at weddings that you personally like the most?
Micro Weddings are the biggest thing lately due to the pandemic. They are reducing the number of guests but having more intimate celebrations which works just the same as a large wedding. This way you don’t have to delay everything, just do it a little differently.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
I think one of the biggest misconceptions of our category (photography) is that you can’t get quality wedding photography at an affordable price. We feel like everyone deserves quality wedding photos, even if you’re eloping.
Tell us three venues you enjoy working at and why.
Orlando Science Center, Mission Inn, and Harmony Gardens are some of our favorite venues. Each one has special things about it that we really enjoy.
The Orlando Science Center Well, there’s a great staff, dinosaurs, science, and nerdy stuff. What’s not to like? We love our nerdy couples because we are nerds too. Not only can you get married outside on the beautiful terrace, but you also have the option to get married in the Our Planet Room with your choice of projection on the globe. We’ve had a few couples do the Death Star and that’s always fantastically nerdy. Score!
Mission Inn Resort The thing we love about Mission Inn is its variety of options you have for photo opportunities. We also really love being able to have a little fun with our couples. At Mission Inn Resort they offer couples a golf cart where they can run around the resort quickly with their photographer to capture all of the amazing locations on the property. We’ve been there a million times and can always show you all the hidden spots too! There’s the stone bridge on the golf course, the waterfall, a second bridge with all the beautiful orange flowers, Plaza de las Palmas and Plaza de la Fontana! So many options. Highland Manor – This venue is a historic building, which adds a lot of charm to the photos before you even begin decorating. One of our favorite features is the outside ceremony location which features some beautiful 100-year-old oak trees. It’s a beautiful backdrop for all family portraits, but if you want to go inside, there are endless options that include the historic charm of the building. One thing you may not think of that we love about this building is inside the reception, the walls and ceilings are white. Which in the photography world makes all the images look like they were lit with a giant softbox light, making all the lighting really even and soft – i.e. making you and your friends look amazing.
Here is what some previous couples had to say…
“We could not be happier to have had Kellie and Lindsay as our wedding photographers. They were 100% communicative and professional from the start, fairly priced, and offered insight where we needed it. As two people who don’t like being in the spotlight, my husband and I felt completely ourselves with Kellie and Lindsay, which of course resulted in pictures where we LOOKED like ourselves on our wedding day—happy, excited, and loving every moment! They had great suggestions on the spot for photos around the venue and knew the location well (Orlando Science Center). The turn-around time on our photos was FANTASTIC and we were looking at our pictures within two weeks! You can tell they love their job and are enjoying the moments with you. If we ever need professional photography again in the future, I know we’ll be reaching back to them. Thank you so much, guys!” – Alexa B., Orlando Science Center
“If you’re searching for a wedding photographer in the central Florida area, please stop right now and book with Kellie and Lindsay from Live Happy Studio. They are true professionals, who really helped us find special moments on our wedding day to capture the most meaningful and memorable photos.
Not to mention, on the day of our wedding, a sub-tropical storm was rolling in over Florida and our venue.. and of course, our ceremony was outside. Lindsay and Kellie kept an extremely close eye on the weather and encouraged us to go for it versus moving inside when a pocket of dry air appeared to be heading our way.
I’ll always be grateful to them for how invested they were in ensuring we had the perfect day, and in helping me make the right decisions. Despite the pressure to get our ceremony to align with clear skies, every single photo came back beautiful. They seem to be able to handle anything thrown at them!
Thoughtful, efficient, calm (so helpful for me – a nightmare of nerves the day of!) and kind…there’s no doubt in my mind you will love them too.” – Katheleen H., Mission Inn Resort
“Kellie and Lindsay shot our wedding at Mission Inn in January. My husband and I are not incredibly comfortable in front of a camera. Their style made us feel completely at ease and we really had so much fun. They knew all of the perfect spots to stop for portraits and made sure we got to go to areas we had chosen beforehand as well. Also, I was able to look through all of my pictures SO SOON after the wedding, while I was still on that blissful high. Thank you so much Kellie and Lindsay!!” – Sarah + Nate, Mission Inn Resort
“Lindsay and Kellie are rock star photographers and awesome people! Working in the event industry, I come in contact with many photographers but Live Happy is always a joy to work with! So much so that I even hired them to shoot my own wedding because I trust their vision and talents completely! They are so accommodating and will always go out of their way to give you the best photos possible while keeping you at ease the whole time. You will not regret booking them! :)” – Mikaela C., Venue 142
“Amazing photographers! They took the photos for my wedding and I couldn’t be happier with them. They were great responding and answering any questions I had. Also, they were very quick in getting the photos to me. My wedding was on a Sunday and I believe I had access to the photos by Friday. All the photos were beautiful!” – Stacey + Andrew, Blue View Barn
