It’s Spotlight Day! Where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding venues and vendors, and the stories behind their companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce, Rick Martin, the private events director at Mystic Dunes Resort & Golf Club.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
2008, immediately following college graduation. I was hired by Colette’s Catering in Southern California, to operate their (then) premier wedding venue, Muckenthaler Mansion. The owners mentored me in everything I needed to know about catering, wedding coordination, and eventually sales. I was sad to leave them behind when I moved to Orlando in 2012. After a brief time working for another caterer in Orlando, I was hired as the Banquet Manager at Mystic Dunes in 2014, and have been here ever since. I am so thrilled and feel privileged to be the first and last point of contact for our wedding couples here.
What is the best compliment you have received from your clients?
I couldn’t have done this without him, or something along those lines. I am continually and sincerely humbled by every single review and compliment.

The best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
Find vendors you connect with, including your venue contact. If you connect with your vendors, you are far more likely to trust them to deliver a fabulous experience, product, and service.
Tell us some vendors you enjoy working with and why.
I enjoy working with any and all vendors that are kind, and works with me and my team with the common goal of making the couple feel like a VIP. After all, the wedding day is the COUPLES day, to enjoy alongside their guests, with zero stress.
I have curated a non-exclusive list of vendors that I know and trust, and encourage couples to contact them, however couples are welcome to use other vendors, as long as they are licensed and insured.
