We love a proposal at an iconic Orlando landmark, don’t you? When we received their submission on Instagram, we knew that we wanted to feature Adrianna and David’s botanical gardens marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
David and I met in 8th grade in Spanish class. He sat by me in the classroom and we actually disliked each other because he would always act like he was better at Spanish than I was. He would play pranks on me and make fun of me so I should have known that was his weird way of flirting.
It wasn’t until 9th grade, again in Spanish class, that we started talking more. One day I walked over to him and put my school planner in front of him and asked him to write his number down because “I needed help with Spanish homework”. I knew I didn’t need his help and he probably knew I didn’t as well but he wrote his number down and I texted him that night. We started talking and he asked me out to the movies for our first date.
A couple of days later we met at our usual spot by the PE gates at school and he asked me to be his girlfriend.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
David and I love spending quality time together, whether it’s just going on a day adventure to Home Goods or trying out new restaurants/dessert places. We love going home to south Florida and seeing our families. We typically hang out by the pool or go out on the boat to the sandbar or go fishing. We also enjoy just relaxing at home with our hairless cat, Karma, and binge-watching tv shows or movies.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
9 years
Did anyone help with the botanical gardens marriage proposal?
David planned most of it himself! But he did have our photographer Milly Vadi help with executing the surprise and my mom, Wanda, also helped out.
Share your botanical gardens marriage proposal story…
We had been planning a photoshoot to be done on our 9-year anniversary and to my knowledge, it was just a photoshoot for us as a couple. We had the best photographer, Milly Vadi! She did a consultation with us and also met us at Leu Gardens where our pictures were being done a week before to look at the photo spots.
Little did I know that David had a very elaborate plan and everyone was in on it except me. He even went the extra mile and drew a map with a legend of Leu Gardens so the surprise he had planned would go smoothly.
On the day of our pictures, my best friend Alyssa did my hair and makeup for me and told me she was going to go visit her sister in Orlando (which happened to be where our pictures were also being taken). We arrived at the photoshoot and Milly and her husband, Hector, were ready to go.
Hector had asked us if it was alright for him to capture some video footage for some video promos as he was starting to get into videography. David and I said of course! So we started taking some pictures in areas we had seen the week before and then we headed to the main gazebo.
As we were on our way over, Milly asked me to take some individual portraits and at the time I didn’t know what David was doing but he was grabbing the ring from Hector’s bag. Once David and Hector walked over we proceeded to the gazebo with Milly in front of us and we got to the photo spot.
Of course, I was oblivious and was worried about fixing my hair when I heard someone clear their throat to my left. I looked over and noticed a group of my loved ones standing there and then out of the corner of my eye I could see David starting to get down on one knee.
I turned to him and that’s when he told me I have been his best friend since high school and he would want nothing more than for me to be his wife. I started crying instantly and was so happy that everyone heard me say “YES!”
After the botanical gardens marriage proposal, my family members and best friend all came over and congratulated us. We took some pictures and then they left while David and I finished our now engagement session rather than couples session. It was an amazing day followed by a surprise set up at the hotel where we took more family photos and then we all went to dinner at night.
Our photos were absolutely beautiful and Hector provided us with an amazing engagement video that captured the proposal and reactions! (Did you watch it? go back to the top of the page and hit play)
After the proposal, everyone kept asking me, did you know? Did you have an idea? My answer was consistent, that I had a slight idea that he might propose but I definitely did not expect all the other surprises he had in store.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
The best moment of the proposal is hard to pick because everything was perfect. I loved how much effort and heart David put into it all, especially having the important people in our lives there for the moment.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
Luckily, the people I would have called first were all there with us from my parents, sister, godmother, and best friend to David’s parents. But aside from the people who were there, I told my friends Avery, Abby, and Cindy!
Tell us about the ring!
I absolutely love my ring, it’s simple and beautiful! It’s a round cut with a white gold band. There are surprise diamonds on both sides of the band. The ring was purchased from Arthur D. Smith Jewelers from International Jewelers Exchange.
Referring to David as my fiancé or vice versa! It takes some getting used to!
We have actually enjoyed wedding planning together and doing cake tastings!
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
We are very big into food and dessert so we instantly started setting up tastings to make sure our food and dessert are both perfect! We are also excited to work out all the decorations for the venue.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
Our wedding is 3/25/2023 at Bending Branch Ranch.
Why did you choose that venue?
We chose the venue because it has everything we envisioned. We toured it and both fell in love with it while we were there!
75-100
We made a spreadsheet with estimates for all of the wedding expenses and we are going to try to stick within our budgets.
What’s your wedding style?
Our theme is elegant and rustic!
Have you selected any other vendors for your wedding?
We are using Milly Vadi Photography again for our pictures, as well as her husband, Hector, for our videography.
We chose the bundle package with our venue, which includes Subsonic DJ, Carrie Starkey for bar services, and Ashley Richey for our wedding coordination.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with Wedding Venue Map readers?
Don’t get overly stressed, enjoy the process and use it as quality time for you and your partner to plan the perfect wedding for both of you.
Congratulations Adrianna and David on your beautiful Leu botanical Gardens marriage proposal!
