Share with us when and how you met each other.

We met back in 2015 while I was doing the Disney College Program and was a lifeguard at the Pop Century and Art of Animation resort. I had the day off and wanted to go to the beach, what better way to do that than find a hot date? I got on Tinder and the first person I matched with was Cody.

Once we matched, Cody called instantly and said his family has a beach house in New Smyrna. We met up and he took me to the beach and showed me around the cutest beach town and ended up meeting his mom and sister and nephews and was smitten by all of them.

We have been inseparable since. I finished my internship and had to go back home to Seattle, WA and he followed me there. We drove cross country and had a blast! We lived in Seattle for 2 years while I finished my bachelor’s degree and then moved to Orlando in 2017, also driving cross country. All in all, It was love at first swipe!

My fiancé planned everything on his own and came up with the idea with a family friend who was the photographer but his mom helped and had my friends and family flew out for the proposal.

It was our 6 year anniversary on 3/21/21 and spent the day getting pampered with a massage and a manicure & pedicure. We had plans to go to dinner at Dubsdread in Orlando. It felt like every other anniversary we have celebrated, laid back, and a day of leisure with a nice dinner to end the evening. I get dressed up per usual to do our anniversary and Cody decided to wear a light purple button-down so I wore a dress of the same color to match and be that annoying couple.

We get to the restaurant and are walking towards the entrance until we get stopped by a photographer. The photographer said he was doing a promo shoot for Pro V1 golf balls (which are Cody’s preferred ball to golf with). The photographer said we looked nice and just needed to hold the golf balls to take pictures of them and then we could keep them. I thought that was a great free present for our anniversary!

We get positioned by the photographer and then he asks Cody to take one of the balls out of the box to be photographed. Cody handed me the ball and I looked down and it said “Nikki, will you marry me” I was in shock and couldn’t believe it was happening. He proceeded to get down on his knee and pulled out a ring box from his sock. He opened the box and it had the most beautiful ring and even more, special, the diamond was his great grandmothers that had been passed down to his grandma and now to me!

It was so incredibly moving and sweet and to add more to it I hear a crowd of people cheering and thought it was the people from the restaurant but it was my friends and family from all over the country running towards us to celebrate! I burst out in tears of joy seeing all my loved ones in the same place and celebrating this special moment with is. I am still in disbelief and on cloud 9! I can’t get over it and every time I look at the ring it reminds me of this special day and the unconditional love I felt and continue to feel!

What was the best moment of the proposal?

Everything! Seeing my friends and family that are out of state and haven’t seen in months was exhilarating

Who did you tell that you were engaged first?

Pretty much all my close friends and family were there so they knew before me!
