It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Kathryn Rawlings of Trellis 925.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
I’m the Wedding Coordinator for Trellis 925 in Orlando, Florida. The majority of my job is wedding coordination and meeting with all my couples, but I do some sales as well. I do wedding tours as well as tours for private events. I also manage our social media profiles on Instagram and Facebook.
What did you do before you did this?
Before I was the Wedding Planner for Trellis 925, I worked as an Assistant to a Wedding Planner/Florist in my hometown. That’s where I realized how much I loved weddings! I really enjoy the creative aspect of this job.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
I went to school for event management at Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and was required to complete an internship in the events field. I got an internship with Cathy Teeters Beautiful Weddings and spent that entire summer working tons of weddings! I loved every second of it.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
I love the fact that I get to meet so many cool people! I treat all my clients like a friend. When we meet, it is very relaxed and I try to answer all their questions/advise them in a way that I would advise my friends. 🙂 I try to be honest, friendly, and extremely accessible to all the couples I work with so that they feel like they have someone to guide them throughout the entire planning process.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
I studied abroad in Spain in high school. I spent eight weeks living with a family in Ciudad Real, Spain. The parents of the family spoke NO ENGLISH at all, so I got really good at Spanish and have managed to retain most of it, surprisingly.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
That I’m so fun to work with and RESPONSIVE. At Trellis 925, we really pride ourselves on being super responsive and accessible to our clients. I love when people tell me, “Wow, you’re so quick to respond! Thank you!”
What types of events do you specialize in?
We specialize in weddings but we also rent out our space for private events such as baby showers, bridal showers, birthday parties, and corporate events.
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
Location, Location, Location! We are located in the Doctor Phillips area of Orlando right on Restaurant Row. So if you do decide to book your wedding with us, we are only five minutes from I-Drive with tons of hotels, restaurants, and fun stuff to do! Not to mention we are close to Disney and Universal. 😉
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
I enjoy working with the couple who has no idea what they want. Some planners may find this frustrating, but I like couples who don’t know exactly what they want their wedding to look like. Starting with a blank slate gives us the opportunity to really check out different decor/color options and to think outside the box!
What does your most popular package include?
Our all-inclusive package includes a 10-hour rental of our venue, 1 hour the day before your wedding for your rehearsal, wedding coordination services, buffet (complete with servers and a bartender for your reception), and use of our decor.
