We love a great museum proposal story, don’t you? When we saw these gorgeous photos by Steven Miller Photography, we knew that we wanted to feature Donna & Jimmy’s Salvador Dali Museum marriage proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met through an app called Bumble. I swiped right because he had his black lab, Maggie, in his picture. I also have a black terrier mix named Coco, so I was very interested. Our first date was at Universal. I had never been on any rides at the park before. Jimmy, who had worked at Universal at the time, was shocked. Our first ride was The Hulk.
While waiting in line I asked how many loops there were. Jimmy answered by saying, “1,2,4.. too many to count.” Turns out the whole ride is a constant loop! We ended the night with Jimmy walking me to my car and our first kiss in the Spider-Man parking lot.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
Our favorite thing to do together is trying central Florida restaurants and eateries. We love Pig Floyd’s, A La Cart, Deli Desires, Chi-Kin, and The Salty.
We also love road tripping with our rescue pups. Every year we drive to Philly to celebrate Christmas with Donna’s family. Our dogs snuggle and sleep in the back seat. Last year we drove to New Orleans, LA and Austin, TX. Our favorite stop was Buc-ee’s! The dogs got a lot of treats from the gift store!
How long were you together before getting engaged?
We were together 1 year and 11 months before we got engaged.
Did anyone help with the Salvador Dali Museum marriage proposal?

When I started planning I was going to have my sister and her boyfriend come with us to the Salvador Dali museum to take pictures and capture the moment. It’s a big moment, so I decided to make it a surprise and hire a photographer. Donna loves Van Gogh, especially starry night, so Steven and I planned to time the proposal right during the starry night portion of the Van Gogh interactive exhibit. Once it was all planned, Steven was able to help me make sure the timing was right and was there to capture the moment.
I knew Jimmy was going to propose at the Salvador Dali museum. I had a gut feeling. He had gotten his haircut the day before and that gave it away too. At the museum, Jimmy suddenly became very interested in art and was taking his time talking to me about all the paintings. It was fun to look at the paintings together but the moment was growing near. I was so nervous and excited and couldn’t believe it was going to happen! Once we walked into the Interactive Van Gogh exhibit, I just thought to myself, “Omg this is it.”
Jimmy was so nervous. He was breathing so heavily. I am so happy we had our masks on because I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing about how nervous he was. Finally, the instrumental music played and the screens turned into a starry night sky. I was busy taking pictures with my back to him. Jimmy took my hand and said come here. When I turned around he was on one knee with the ring in his hand. He said, “I’m on one knee, I hired a photographer, will you marry me?” I smiled, laughed, and said YES!
After Jimmy asked I could finally tell him I knew he was going to propose. I had also spotted Steven Miller, our photographer in the exhibit.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
The proposal shoot with Steven Miller right after I said yes.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
We FaceTimed both our Moms right away. They were so excited for us!
Tell us about the ring!
The ring is a pear-shaped diamond on a pavè setting. It was purchased from rarecarat.com.
What has surprised me the most is how natural it has been and how much happiness it has brought to us.
We have enjoyed how happy and excited our families are for us. We flew up to Philly to celebrate with Donna’s family and drove to South Florida to celebrate with Jimmy’s family. It’s been great to be able to share this happiness with them.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
We have booked Arthur’s catering and are so excited to try the food they have to offer!
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We are getting married at Casa Feliz on March 23, 2023.
Why did you choose that venue?
We chose Casa Feliz because it had a historic garden feel. The house is beautiful on its own and needs minimal decorations. We loved how many things were included and they gave us preferred vendors.
