We love a great local proposal story, don’t you? In true Florida fashion, we knew that we wanted to feature Bailey & Ryan’s Sanibel marriage proposal story at the beach.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met each other in 5th grade. We were in the same class and even stood next to each other in our 5th-grade photo! We went to different middle and high schools but kept in touch over the years until three years ago when we started officially dating.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We love to travel together, go hiking, and binge-watch our favorite T.V. shows.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
We were together for three years.
Share your Sanibel marriage proposal story…
For the first eight months of our relationship, I lived in Fort Myers, FL, and he lived in Orlando, FL. Each weekend we would each take turns driving to each other’s houses to spend time with one another.
We would go to Sanibel Island to hang out on the beach for many weekends and then visit one of our favorite restaurants close by called the Bubble Room. For our three-year anniversary, we decided to go back to Sanibel for a long weekend.
Two days before our three-year anniversary he asked me to go walking on the beach at sunset and proposed! We went to the Bubble Room for dinner after to celebrate. It was very intimate and perfect.

What was the best moment of the proposal?
Watching him get down on one knee.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
I called my parents, but they already knew as did the whole family.

Tell us about the ring!
He picked out my ring all by himself, and it is perfect! It has a center stone with a beautiful design on the sides.
I did not realize we would become even closer as a couple.
Both of our family’s excitement and support.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Going to pick out my dress!

If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We are getting married on October 29, 2022, at the Winter Club Venue.
Why did you choose that venue?
We loved how beautiful the outside and inside area was. We loved that we could get married outside but celebrate inside.

Budget and do not buy unnecessary things that we will never use again in our life.
Formal – the colors are black, dark green and silver.
