We love a great Central Florida proposal story, don’t you? One of our trusted vendors shared their story and we knew that we wanted to feature Kaley & Zack’s scavenger hunt marriage proposal.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met online about 2 weeks before all the lockdowns. We were in Colorado and our first date lasted about 9 hours. We just kept moving around from place to place keeping the conversation going. Before we even met in person, our online conversation lasted about 9 hours as well. We got to have a handful of “normal” dates before needing to get creative once all the restaurants and bars shut down! We drove all over the Rocky Mountains!
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We love to cook! Food definitely brings people together. It’s fun to spend time together in the kitchen, being creative, and listening to music while preparing our meal together.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
Not long! We knew from our first week of dating that we were going to be together forever. We got together in March of 2020 and engaged in June of 2021. Getting married in April 2022! When you know, you know!
Did anyone help with the Scavenger Hunt Marriage Proposal?
My best friend and Maid of Honor, Katie.
Share your marriage proposal story…
Oh goodness… this might take a while. It was Sunday, June 6 and I was pouting because I wanted to have Sunday Funday but Zack said he had an appointment. So I’m sitting on the couch and he leaves for his “appointment” and about 2 minutes after he leaves, our record player starts playing our favorite song, Old Pine by Ben Howard.
I go to check it out because it actually creeped me out and inside the record player was a note with the number 1 on the envelope. I opened it and cracked a smile… Zack was sending me on a scavenger hunt.
He first sent me to all the special places we spend time together in our home like the Adirondacks on the front porch and the office where we run our business. Then my best friend Katie showed up and the scavenger hunt took me to all the places around Orlando that are special to us. Each place had a new note with a new clue and a very sweet reason why this place is special.
I mean… this scavenger hunt was SERIOUS, I was gone all day! One clue took me back home which is our FAVORITE place and Zack had one final clue waiting… How long is forever?
I opened the door to a candlelit walkway and Zack had transformed our dining room into a magical engagement picnic. We hugged and kissed and cried before he got the word “Forever?” out of his mouth. I am pretty sure I just said “Mhmm yup!” Very official, we know.
Then we had charcuterie and champagne and cuddled in our picnic nest before bringing our pups to play with us. It was magical. I waited until the morning to tell anyone only to learn Zack had been texting them all the whole time! It was a really special day and continues to be one of my favorite days of my life. A love like this is really a special thing.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
Zack’s face when he asked me “Forever?”
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
My parents and best friend.
Tell us about the ring!
Honestly… no idea?! It’s beautiful but it is the least important part of the whole engagement.
I have been surprised that everyone else is as excited as me!
It took a while to get used to… but wearing that ring! It’s a daily reminder that I get to spend the rest of my life with my favorite person.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Picking the flowers is definitely exciting but getting to plan this special day with my special person has been pretty exciting!
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
April 23, 2022, at Garden Villa in Winter Park, Florida.
Why did you choose that venue?
It is beautiful and natural. We wanted something close to home and outside, as natural as possible. Garden Villa was in our budget and right down the street! We also loved the built-in rain contingency plan. You definitely need that in Florida!
100-ish
We are carefully selecting our vendors that fit within our budget while still being able to realize our dream wedding day.
