We love a great St Pete Pier proposal story, don’t you? When we read this story, we knew that we wanted to feature Meghan & Bailey’s St Pete Pier proposal story.
Share with us when and how you met each other.
We met on Bumble about 4 years ago. I (Meghan) was completing an internship in Seaside, FL and he was living there. We both swiped yes to each other and went on our first date at Baytowne Wharf.
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We absolutely love going to the movies. Our favorite date night in Seaside was going to the local Mexican Restaurant for Happy Hour and going to the $5 movie night next door. We enjoyed all of our dinners together on the beach and most of our time was spent there! Lately, we try to go to dinners at least once a week.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
We were together for 4 years!
Did anyone help with the St Pete Pier proposal?
I had so many friends involved in my St Pete Pier proposal. Coordinating and being a part of it. We also had drinks and apps at St Pete Teak.
Share your marriage proposal story…
I invited so many of my closest friends to go for a weekend away in Tampa. It wasn’t too far from Orlando, so I knew more people could come. I planned the hotel and activities with one of my friends, Chrissy. Slowly but surely, people were committing to coming and I was so excited (I love birthdays)!
The activity that I planned that I was most excited about was a pedal tour, but it was on a boat! That seemed to be the most stressful part of the day, nothing was going right. Six of my friends missed the boat, it was the first game of the Stanley Cup Finals and parking was almost impossible to find. Then, we got about 20 minutes into the tour and it started storming terribly and we had to turn around.
Bailey knew I was upset and said “let’s just go get ready for dinner.” We went back to the hotel with some of our friends and started getting ready for the night. It was raining, so I didn’t do my hair or anything crazy. I noticed Bailey was putting on a really nice shirt, and I was confused…he never really dresses up that nice.
Everyone assured me that the restaurant was pretty fancy (Chrissy had planned my birthday dinner as a surprise so I had no idea where it was). We headed on our way with three of my girlfriends. I was playing 90’s throwbacks in the car. If you know me, you know I ALWAYS ask and mess with Bailey about proposing.
I was joking the whole way “are you PROPOSING?”, “Is the ring in your pocket?”, I turned around to my friend in the back seat and pulled her purse, and said, “is my ring in here?” Come to find out…IT WAS.
So, we begin walking to the end of St. Pete Pier and I see some of my friends down there. They were hiding behind the sign (I thought they were hiding from the wind). And they surprised me with some friends from church as well. Still had no idea.
Bailey grabbed my hand and said come with me. I knew right then. I said to him “is this really happening right now?” But add some colorful words in there. I turned around to see our families and my close friends around us.
I was so excited and I will cherish the words he said to me. “Meghan, I have prayed for a woman like you my whole life. Someone who is beautiful on the inside and out. Will you marry me?” After I said “OF COURSE” and was sobbing my eyes out.
He said, “most of our family and friends are here, I rented out the top tiki bar and we get to spend the night here with everyone!” It was the best night ever.
What was the best moment of the proposal?
How loved I felt by Bailey and by everyone around me. It truly was the best day of my life.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
I Facetimed my best friends Aubrey and Hana. I feel like they both cried but it was a whirlwind. They were so excited for me.
Tell us about the ring!
My ring is a pear shape with two circles right next to it with a gold band. Bailey went to Jared and designed it himself. He did amazing. It’s literally my dream ring.
I think just how many people were waiting for Bailey to propose. So many people were saying to me “about time” and “finally.”
I’ve personally enjoyed being able to call Bailey a “fiancè” finally! He probably would say his favorite part is me not pestering him anymore about a ring.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Flowers of course-big surprise there. I work for Bluegrass Chic so I’m surrounded by floral all the time, it’s exciting that it’s my turn!
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We are aiming for Spring of 2023. Somewhere in Seaside.
Why did you choose that venue?
We want to get married in Seaside because that is where we fell in love.
Around 200
What’s your approach to your wedding budget?
I don’t even know where to start. We are figuring it out as we go.
What’s your wedding style?
Garden style with flowers everywhere!
Have you selected any other vendors for your wedding?
Bluegrass Chic (duh)!
Congratulations Meghan & Bailey on your St. Pete Pier marriage proposal!
