We love a great beach proposal story, don’t you? When we saw these amazing photos from Foto Bohemia Photography, we knew that we wanted to feature Margie & Richie’s sunset at the beach marriage proposal story.

Share with us when and how you met each other.

Richie and I met when we were teenagers. He asked me out on my 14th birthday in a birthday card and he cut out little letters from magazines and put them together and wrote “Will you go out with me?” I said yes, but we were so young and adolescent that things did not work out for long. Years went by and I mean years.

We rekindled 10 years later and he asked me out on my 24th birthday with another card but the card came with a big bouquet of flowers this time. We have been together ever since and even back then when we were really young I knew he was the one, but the timing wasn’t right.

What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?

We both love to fish and take short weekend getaway trips. We both love to cook, I will cook and bake anything but he is really good with cooking different meats (ribs, steaks, pulled pork) so I’ll make the sides. We love going for long walks with the dog at sunset or bike rides.

How long were you together before getting engaged?

Together for about 4 years on 09/22/21.

Did anyone help with the sunset at the beach marriage proposal?

Jessie the photographer helped Richie set everything up, the girls who work at the Berkeley recommended her and she helped plan everything.

So Jessie helped plan everything for Richie. I had no clue what was happening I really wanted to watch the sunset that night and Richie knows I love watching sunsets, one of my favorite things to do. He told me to dress up nice because we were going to go straight to dinner after the sun went down.

We walked on the beach when I saw someone taking photographs and I thought nothing of it. I was like oh look someone is modeling. As we got closer I saw someone writing in the sand. It said “Will you marry me?”, and I still thought nothing of it. I told Richie “look someone just got engaged” not thinking this was for me!

He got down on one knee and he had the ring in hand and I was like no way! I started to tear up and couldn’t believe this was actually happening to me. He asked me and I was in shock, he asked me twice he said “Is that a yes?” I said yes yes yes yes! I couldn’t be more thrilled I was so surprised, because like I said I was not expecting this.

The sunset was so beautiful that night, now thinking of it, it makes sense why he was so nervous earlier because of the weather, and he wanted everything to be perfect. And it was the perfect night.

What was the best moment of the proposal?

Everything! Every little second and moment was absolutely perfect.

Who did you tell that you were engaged first?

Parents!

Tell us about the ring!

Richie designed the ring, it is a radiant stone. It is from Krystyna’s jewelry from back home in Illinois.

I’m not sure. Everything seems normal as always but we just look at each other with the biggest smiles on our faces and say fiancé now to each other.

That we get to enjoy it in paradise! As much as I’m excited to go home and talk about it with friends and family and show them the ring. The fact that we get to enjoy each other’s company just the two of us is amazing.

What are you most excited about wedding planning?

The venue I’m excited to pick! I was going to do a destination (nothing crazy or too far) but I want to go somewhere else and I want a small intimate wedding with just our closest friends and family. We are both Polish and weddings are normally big celebrations with like 400 people and we both agree, we want the opposite. Small and simple.

If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?

Not sure, so that’s why it will be fun to look into it, maybe a farmhouse style type I would like to look for!

We both want a beautiful wedding but nothing over the top to break the bank.

Rustic but not too rustic, just the right amount. Candles everywhere are moody and romantic.
