Share your marriage proposal story…
Every year my family gets together for the Fourth of July. We are a very close-knit family. So that weekend we packed up and drove down to Fort Myers, while the rest of my family flew in from Pennsylvania. Our weekend went about as normal as it always had. On the fourth, my mom asked if I wanted to go to Michaels (because yes I love being creative) so that was an obvious answer. Little did I know, that was the start of the day that would change my life forever!
Now like I said, I love being creative so what should have been an hour-ish trip was a little over 2 hours and then I also wanted to stop at Target. Another mistake that my mom made by saying “Ok let’s go” so another hour or so goes by. At this point, Travis (my now fiancé), only wanted to not have me around for about 1 hour so he could make this big surprise happen. We were about 3 hours past the time he wanted to pop the question. Meanwhile, I had no idea.
At that point my mom questioned me and said “Are you done yet, we should probably head home”, so in my head, I was thinking “wow my mom has never rushed me, we usually kinda make a day out of it”. We were finally on our way home and my mom said everyone was at my aunt’s house so we were going to head over there. I didn’t question it and decided to go with the flow. As we arrived at my aunt’s house, I could sense something was up with my mom, she seemed, well kind of emotional. I asked if she was ok she just nodded her head and we walked into the house. I walked into the living room where my whole family was sitting in a large circle, with a chair right in the middle of it.
Travis took my hand and lead me to this chair and sat me down. Honestly, at this point, it hadn’t fully clicked. He gave me a few “wrong boxes” with items that symbolized certain parts of our relationship and promises to each other. Then, the last box arrived in my hand. It was a fairly large, lightweight box with a ton of tissue in it. He told me to start going through the box. I kept picking up crumbled pieces of tissue paper. Then, a smaller box appeared. I grabbed the box out, and gave him a questionable look. He proceeded to take the box out of my hand and then go down on one knee! That was when it hit me! “It’s happening! Oh my gosh!!!! ” He told me “I couldn’t think of a better place, then being surrounded by your family”, then the big question came “Will you marry me?”. I obviously said “YES!” And the rest is history!
What was the best moment of the proposal?
Being surrounded by my family!
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
My family obviously and then my 3 best friends!
Tell us about the ring!
It’s absolutely beautiful, he did such a great job, it’s a square cut with a twisted band! Lots of sparkles!
Just how natural everything is happening. We both are pretty easygoing people so it’s been exciting to see us venture out into the future Mr. & Mrs. life.
He’s my true other half, that person you feel like you can’t live without. So just the fact we are making our life commitment to one other is the most rewarding thing about being engaged.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Honestly cake tasting and picking out our ceremony/reception decor.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
December 10, 2022, at Cross Creek Ranch
Why did you choose that venue?
It’s a dream come true venue for us. It takes a lot of stress off our shoulders as well as just the vibes you get stepping onto the property.

We are still working out the final details, but our venue was a huge must and they have truly put our budget worries at ease.
