It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding venues and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding venue is so important on your wedding day. The venue is the backdrop of every moment, every picture, and every memory. It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Tori Hilding of The Villages Polo Club.
How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?
I worked at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills and Reunion Resort in Kissimmee…both are amazing venues that add so much detail to any event. They taught me so much about weddings in my years being there, they truly helped form me into the person I am today.
Tell us about your most memorable event so far and why it was.
We had a wedding here where the bride actually grew up on the polo grounds before it was even a polo club. We had the chance to see her take photos in places that she cherished growing up. It truly was such a unique and intimate moment that truly made everyone involved shed a tear.
What motivates you to do this every day?
I love being able to help with anyone’s special day, so the chance to get to do this for a career just makes it even more amazing!
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
The Villages Polo Club offers an exclusive event, one per day. We do not like trying to flip from one wedding to another, it makes the bridal party and guests feel rushed. We want everyone here to enjoy the event and feel like they are part of the polo family here.
Use three words to describe your business.
Calm, Inviting, and Optimistic.
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
We are a fully outdoor facility which allows you to enjoy your wedding under the stars. We also have polo ponies year-round for guests to see, and sometimes pet, during the wedding.
Tell us about your ideal client.
Someone who is laid-back and not afraid to host a wedding at a fully outdoor facility in Florida.
Why do you think your business is so successful?
We have so much to offer in our town besides weddings; it really adds to everyone’s enjoyment. We host polo games 20 weeks out of the year, so there always is a group outing you can enjoy with your bridal party after or before the wedding along (with mimosas or a Deluxe Bloody Mary Bar).
What is your best piece of advice for somebody that just got engaged?
Have an idea of what you want (scenic), how many guests anticipating, and your budget.
What current trends have you seen at weddings that you personally like the most?
Edison lights! Our tree comes equipped with over 1,000 Edison lights and they really enhance the atmosphere.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your business?
“Why get married at a polo field?”
Here is what some previous couples had to say…
“The venue was phenomenal, very beautiful. The oak tree was perfect for the ceremony. I would suggest that you have your guests park away from the tree, however, so you don’t end up with a bunch of cars in your photos. The pavilion was perfect for 50 guests and the view was gorgeous. The second floor of the pavilion was where we took our favorite photographs!” – Courtney M.
“We are in our 60’s and this is a second marriage for both of us, so we wanted something very simple. It was just the two of us, a couple of friends, the minister, the photographer, and their wives. The Villages Polo Club certainly made our day simple, sweet, fun, and picture-perfect.
A long, winding road led us through fields and woods until we arrived at our wedding ceremony site – a huge beautiful tree and rustic trellis, surrounded by horse stables. During our ceremony, we were blessed with birds chirping and horses whinnying. After the ceremony, we were escorted via golf cart to the main polo building where we were greeted with smiling faces, excitement, and applause from the Polo Club staff. Our table was beautifully decorated, with a surprise bottle of champagne. The food was spectacular! After brunch, we enjoyed the polo match and marriage congratulations were announced several times during the game. Although simple, we were made to feel very special and the day was full of unexpected surprises. They went above and beyond to make our day perfect and a fairy tale wedding we’ll always remember.” – Jeanne A.
