It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendors is so important on your wedding day. The vendors help create ways to bring everybody together and make great memories.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Jessada Sunhachawi of Epic Axe Throwing.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
We teach people how to throw axes. We have coaches that teach you safety, technique, and fun axe throwing games.
What did you do before you did this?
Jessada is a civil engineer and Thao is a wedding planner. We are both axe coaches!
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
We joined the wedding industry three years ago after attending Laurie Hartwell’s wedding planner course.
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
We were established in October of 2018. First axe throwing venue in Orlando!
How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?
Through the help of loved ones, good people, and a lot of positivity. We are constantly striving to improve ourselves and what we can offer to our clients.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
The joy of seeing someone stick their first axe throw when they walked in thinking they were going to fail. The victory dances that follow are unforgettable.
Tell us about your most memorable event so far and why it was.
My most memorable event was when we first started out and a young couple walked in on a first date. The guy had no problem hitting the axe target, but the girl couldn’t make the axe stick in the target…for an hour. All of our coaches came and worked with the girl for the entire hour and then on her final throw–half an hour later–she stuck the bulls eye.
The other customers in the neighboring lanes that knew what was going on, our coaches, and the couple burst out in joy and there was much celebratory dancing, photo-taking, and high-fiving. We left the axe in the bulls eye after the couple left for the rest of the night.
What’s the best part of your job?
Seeing people (that doubted they were going to have fun) leave saying that they are bringing their family and best friends back to our venue.
What motivates you to do this every day?
Knowing that this is our business and that this business represents our personality.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I am an axe-throwing wedding planner.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
That I am awesomely patient and a great teacher!
How did you decide on the name of your company?
We and our partners voted on every possible axe pun we could come up with. We decided on Epic Axe Throwing because it was simple and to the point.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
Safety is our number one priority. Our coaches are with your group the entire time to make sure everyone is throwing safe while having fun.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
We are the first axe-throwing venue in Orlando. We provide instruction on how to throw all different kinds of hatchets.
What types of events do you specialize in?
Any party: bachelor/bachelorette, birthdays, corporate outings, team building, and leagues.
What makes your business stand out from others in your category?
We are first in Orlando and have grown our roots in the community. We participate in numerous charities with a focus on advancing the plight of all people in our area.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
Our favorite type of engaged couple is the one that seeks adventure and have easy laughs. People that know when to listen and when to just let loose and have fun. Our favorite type of couple is the one that supports each other whether they are good at axe throwing or not.
Why do couples hire you?
Because they want to do something new and think our venue is cool.
What does your most popular package include?
Axes, targets, and coaches along with planning for catering, decorations, set-up/tear-down, and logistics.
Why do you think your business is successful?
Everyone that comes in feels like they learned something new. And there is just something about the sound of the axe thudding into the wood.
Tell us briefly about some of your package options. What is the price range for these packages?
$25 per hour per person. Or for groups of 6 or more, we do $39.95 for two hours per person (savings of $5 per hour per person). Both of these options can be booked online through our website.
For full event book out, it is approximately $1,000 per hour with a 2-hour minimum for up to 50 throwers. Please contact our sales team for private quotes.
Epic Axe Throwing shares some helpful information for engaged couples…..
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
Is it safe? Yes, as in all things, learning the safety protocols and watching out for ourselves and each other is paramount.
What is your best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
Love each other and throw axes.
What current trends have you seen at weddings that personally like the most?
We want axe throwing to be the wedding trend of 2019 and beyond.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions that people have about your vendor category?
That axe throwing isn’t an option for a party. Any event is only as fun as the people in it–our coaches bring lots of energy but in the end, our guests are what makes our place great.
