It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendors is so important on your wedding day. The vendors help create the backdrop of every moment, every picture, and every memory.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Sharon Haller of Cake & Bake, LLC.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
We are in the industry of making a masterpiece of art and beauty on the day of your wedding day. Not only will it be beautiful, but your guests will also talk for years about how delicious your cake was.
What did you do before you did this?
We are a mother/daughter team. Mom (Sharon) was an administrator in private preschools and Early Childhood programs. Sharon worked in the educational industry for 25 years before becoming a master artist in cake decorating and bakery. The daughter (Cyndol) worked with children in the foster care system.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
It was kind of by accident. In 2012, we decided to take on cake artistry on a part-time basis. Within six months, the business was doing so well that both of us had to resign from our positions to keep it going. It went from a hobby to a business overnight…during a recession! We underestimated our artistic abilities and our customers loved our cakes.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
Sharon’s favorite is wedding cakes. She loves to interact with the couples, share ideas, and partake in family events after couples are married. Cyndol enjoys baking and making wedding cakes and party cakes. She gets to use some of her creative ideas and bring them to life in a cake.
What motivates you to do this every day?
What motivates us every day is the joy of being able to do something we love, which started out as a hobby and now we make thousands of cakes a year for families in Central Florida.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
Our customers always rave about our excellent customer service, how talented we are in design/creating pieces of art on their wedding day and affordable we are.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We will not take any deposits or book a cake unless the customer is 100% happy with what we have created together. Our couples love the fact that our cakes are made fresh and delivered on time. We offer our couples 100+ flavor combinations for cake and fillings. We work with all budgets, from the small two-tier to 13-tier wedding cakes.
What types of events do you specialize in?
We are very well known for the quality and excellence we put into our wedding cakes. Weddings are one of our specialty areas, we love to interact with our couples and their families.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
We love when a couple comes to us with an idea and we can create it in their wedding cake, no matter how crazy or different it could be. We make it come to life.
Why do couples hire you?
Couples appreciate a vendor that makes their dream come true for their wedding day. They hire us to make a beautiful wedding cake that is unforgettable.
What does your most popular package include?
We do not offer packages because every cake is special in its own way. However, our buttercream cake starts at $4.50 a slice and our fondant cakes start at $5.50 a slice.
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
“Are we allowed to have different flavored cakes for each tier?” Of course! Each tier of the wedding cake could be a different flavor and filling.
“When do you deliver?” We like to deliver two hours before the ceremony or reception.
“When is the final payment due and how much is the deposit?” In order to hold the wedding date, we ask for 35% of the total cost of the cake. The final payment is due one month prior to the wedding.
What is your best piece of advice for brides or grooms?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Asking questions only clarifies what you need and are requesting. We feel it’s better for you to have exactly what you want on your wedding day and the only way you can receive that is by asking questions.
Name three unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.
Paradise Cove, Reunion Resort, and Hidden Barn. All three of these venues have some of the best staff to work with and truly care about their couples. They do whatever they can to help make the day magical and memorable for each couple. We love the way they communicate with your vendors so that no stone is left unturned.
