It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Julie and Matt Roth of The Magnolia Company.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
We design beautiful, natural wedding seed favors for your guests to take home and plant as a permanent keepsake of your special wedding day.
What did you do before you did this?
Matt was a CPA and Julie was a teacher.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
The Magnolia Company was created by Matt and Julie’s sister Mary in 2001. We used fresh cut magnolia stems to create unique handmade wreaths and garlands. Our original company was Underhill Ferneries which grows fresh greens for wholesale florists.
Growing high-quality products has been our foundation since 1936. Watching our children’s fascination with a tiny seed’s growth in our kitchen prompted Matt to design the seed favor. There is a simple joy that comes from the tiniest of things, such as a seedling sprouting from an acorn. Knowing this small seedling will one day grow into a tree and provide a canopy of shade is incredible.
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
The Magnolia Company began in 2001.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
We love helping brides create a memorable day and knowing we can provide them with an everlasting wedding favor brings us great pleasure.
Tell us about your most memorable event so far and why it was.
Watching our niece marry last year was a special moment. We decorated the venue with our fresh custom garlands and unique wedding favors personalized just for her!
What’s the best part of your job?
Matt and I love working together with our team who are committed to meeting each customers’ needs and exceeding their expectations.
What motivates you to do this every day?
We are always striving to improve our customer’s experience and create a meaningful gift each and every time.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
Matt and I both love the beach. Quite often, we walk down to see the sunrise and every now and then we bring our boards for a quick paddle before work.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
Hearing our clients tell us our products are created with the highest quality and we provide excellent customer service.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
We have always been drawn to the majestic branches and fragrant blooms of the Magnolia tree. The Southern Magnolia has a story to tell and both Matt and I spent our childhoods under her branches in Central Florida.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We will go the extra mile to create unique and natural wedding favors and decorations. Please don’t hesitate to call us if you have any questions about our products.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
We grow fresh greens and can create custom garlands for decorating arbors, tables, and entryways. We carefully germinate oak and olive seeds and seedlings for unique natural wedding favors.
What types of events do you specialize in?
Our garlands are handmade piece by piece so we can create custom lengths to suit any event, from galas to weddings.
