It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding vendors is so important on your wedding day. The photographer captures all of the special moments of your day.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s vendor spotlight, Jennifer Ross of Photolocity.
What did you do before you did this?
I’ve been doing photography steadily since high school, but have been a server and manager in the hospitality industry for the past 12 years. However, this is the first year I am doing photography 100%!!
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
I began in the wedding industry during my last year of studying photography at Daytona State College. I began working with a professional wedding photographer as an assistant and second photographer and then became an editor. I’m coming close to six years now!
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
Six years specifically in the wedding industry!
How did your work evolve to get you to where you are today?
My work—like many other creatives—has evolved drastically from where I started.
What has helped me is surrounding myself with talented people whose work inspires me to be better. I love working with other photographers whose style is similar to mine. I also love learning new techniques and watching tutorials and various outlets online to always grow and strive to be better.
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is working a lot from home so I can spend more time with my special kitties.
What motivates you to do this every day?
The motivation comes from the feeling of delivering a gallery to a bride that I worked hard on and anticipating their response. I also love working with people and, if the service industry taught me anything, it’s how to stay calm and level-headed in a plethora of situations. I know I can walk into anything and make it work! But people are my motivation.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
Something no one really knows about me is that I used to be a competitive figure skater. I was also Michelle Kwan’s flower girl! (And yes, in Florida!)
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
One that sticks out in my mind was a bride telling me that, of all the people around her, I was the only one who made her feel calm and that everything was going as planned. That was a really good feeling!!
Name three unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.
Bella Collina: It’s simply stunning! When you see the photos, it’s hard to believe it’s in Florida with all the beautiful Italian-inspired design.
Venue 1902: It’s a charming schoolhouse from, well you guessed it, 1902! The space is so versatile and I love that it has everything in one space!
Casa Feliz: A gorgeous venue in the heart of Winter Park perfect for intimate weddings. I love the style of this historic home and there are so many areas around the venue that make perfect photos every time!
What some of their previous couples had to say…
“Photolocity was AMAZING to work with!!! My photographers were flawless and just a blast to have on the property at any event, but especially great for weddings!! They capture all the moments you always hope your photographer will capture on your special day. The moments that are “Kodak” but not planned. Those are always my favorites!! We highly recommend them for any occasion!!!” – Michelle and Rob
