When we heard this adorable story, we knew that we wanted to feature Audrey & Joshua’s Florida springs marriage proposal story.
A very special thank you to Honeywood Photography for these epic proposal photos!
Share with us when and how you met each other.
Josh and I have known each other since we were 15. He played football and I was on the dance team. We hung out with a lot of the same people but we were always just friends. He joined the military and I started college.
We were always aware of where each other were in life but always just stayed friends. When I was in the Peace Corps he was really vocal on social media about PTSD and the 22 a day movement. This was something that always meant something to me because my parents were veterans. We continued to stay in touch even after I returned to Florida and he was living in Missouri.
One Valentine’s Day a guy I was dating stood me up and he had reached out to me to see how the date went and we talked for hours. In the early morning hours, we decided to talk about being together. That was the beginning of our adventure!
What are your favorite things to do together as a couple?
We both enjoy history and trying new restaurants. We enjoy St. Augustine, museums, traveling, sharing our story of the ups and downs of PTSD, and anxiety / depression. We also love spending time with our family and friends.
How long were you together before getting engaged?
We were together 3 1/2 years before he proposed.
Did anyone help with the Florida springs marriage proposal?
My best friend and Maid-of-Honor, Vanessa Negron of Sweet Miss V’s, and Kristine Napier of Honeywood Photography.

My best friend makes wedding cakes and she had spent some time at Kelly Park, which is one of my favorite springs. She posted a picture while she was there and my fiance called her and told her that is where he wanted to ask me. They started to plan how they were going to get me there. I’m a planner. They had planned it for one weekend but I had made plans with friends of ours. The next weekend my best friend asked if I could help her paint her new studio space. The day I was planning on helping her she called me that morning to tell me that she and Kristine were going to scout a location for a photo shoot and that she was going to vlog it. Since the last time I was in her video I looked crazy, she told me if I wanted to dress cute then I could change before we start to paint.
My fiance told me he had a landscaping meeting with his company for their new building. I started getting ready and put makeup on, did my hair and he was getting ready for his “meeting”. I left and met her at her house. As we drove to the springs at Kelly Park she had us film an intro for her vlog. Kristine was there and I was videoing as we were walking down to the launch area. Due to COVID, the springs were closed to swimmers.
Vanessa took the camera from me and Kristine walked over to ask the people on the rock to move (so they wouldn’t be in the engagement pictures but I didn’t know that at the time). She asked if I would stand at the edge of the rock so she could adjust her lighting. All of this sounds suspicious to others but I used to be a wedding photographer so it was all normal to me. When I was looking at the water I could hear footsteps and thought it was Vanessa and thought to myself that I was going to pretend to push her in.
Then I heard Josh’s voice tell me to turn around and all I could say is “Wait, What!” and he asked me to marry him. Afterward, I didn’t even think I said yes to him but he said I leaned down and whispered to him yes. It was the perfect moment. Just us and the most beautiful backdrop. They also planned for us to take pictures since we didn’t have any family there. It was perfect and just what we both wanted. If COVID wasn’t happening there is no way we would have been able to take pictures without people in the background. There was a little light in a dark time.
Who did you tell that you were engaged first?
Our families!
Tell us about the ring!
The ring is from IDC. It’s a halo oval with diamonds on part of the band. It’s 1.02 carats and is designed by Divine.
What are you most excited about wedding planning?
Just planning to have fun with our family and friends.
If you’ve already decided, when are you getting married and what is your venue?
We are getting married on November 6, 2021 at the Dancing Bear Lodge in Townsend, TN.
Why did you choose that venue?
Tennessee is a good middle for his family in Missouri and mine in Alabama/Florida. We chose the venue because it is all-inclusive so we are able to not have to worry about hiring all these different vendors everything is all there and it is easier for us to plan since we don’t live there.
Congratulations Audrey & Joshua on your Florida springs marriage proposal!
