Have you been searching the internet and every wedding planning magazine you can get your hands on for the perfect old Florida retro wedding inspiration? If you’re looking to be inspired, this shoot is nothing less than perfect for that role. Hear from Victoria Rose at Victoria Rose Events who put together this Old Florida Retro Wedding Inspiration shoot showcasing over six different vendors!
Tell us the story and inspiration behind the shoot.
“Retro”, “antique”, or “old” are words you could use to describe a style, item, place, and more. These descriptive words could reference as far back as the 1800s or even more recently to the 1990s. In this case, Tropical Resort & Marina on Lake Beresford gives off Old Florida and retro vibes at their resort that was built in the 1960s. We were excited to bring out the retro ’60s style of the suites into the styled wedding shoot that fits the entire vibe. From colorful stemmed florals to a golden intimate sunset ceremony, to a boho-retro reception setting, we bring to you Old Florida on the Lake!
Planner, Designer, and Coordinator, Victoria shared some insight about the shoot – “I really wanted to bring out the details in this property. The owners purchased it a little over a year ago now, and the place looks better than ever, so I really want to drive weddings based on its origin.” -Victoria Rose Events
The Details:
The photographer, Maggie with The Locke Agency, had a creative eye and film-style editing vibe that fit perfectly into the shoot. Each photograph immortalized the love shared between the couple against the backdrop of Old Florida’s charm, with the Spanish moss and golden light creating the perfect background to capture those intimate moments.
The day started with Mr & Mrs getting ready in room 203. The room was decorated with colors of coral, mint, and bright blue. Surrounded by a wood slat kitchen and wooden features on the furniture, where you are quickly enveloped in the nostalgia of the decor.
The bride embodied vintage glamor with a stunning flare sleeve, lace fitted dress by Maggie Sottoro from Blush Bridal Gallery in Ormond Beach, FL. Her loose curls gave an elegant but relaxed style fit for Old Florida. The groom looked dapper in a floral tie, brown suspenders, dark slacks, and brown leather shoes.
Photographs were taken of the couple around the property surrounded by oak and palm trees until the start of the lovely ceremony at sunset.
The colorful flowers provided by Easy Flowers by You brought the resort’s colors and retro vibe together and looked absolutely divine against the sunset. The bride’s bouquet was the perfect balance of pastels and greenery, adding to the vintage feel when paired with her lace gown.
Gorgeous drinks were made by The Twisted Tap Mobile Bar. One drink specifically was named Butterfly Fever, which was concocted with Empress gin, fresh lemon juice, local honey, and grapefruit soda. Not only were the drinks delicious, but the florals and citrus included in them tied in the Old Florida vibes perfectly. The newlyweds sipped out of their vintage champagne glasses provided by the lovely Rosearden Rentals.
The drinks. The couple. The mobile bar trailer. The vibe. All were picturesque against the palms at Tropical Resort & Marina. All were a testament to the timeless romance that flourishes in this nostalgic setting.
Moving towards the reception, a quaint seating area was available for some downtime after the ceremony and sweet photos were taken in front of the resort rooms.
The guest tables and sweetheart table were decorated with woven placemats, mismatched china and glassware, and an array of brown and blue vases with floral stems and greenery placed in each, creating an atmosphere of timeless sophistication.
The group of creatives enjoyed playing here and bringing the planner’s retro vision to life. Between the natural beauty, vintage elements, and this talented group of creatives, all worked to create a wedding aesthetic that will stand the test of time.
To end the evening, there was a sunset cruise on the resort’s rental pontoon boat on Lake Beresford to send off the newlyweds on their new adventure. Their wedding day unfolded like the classic Florida sunset; warm, enchanting, and filled with promises of endless tomorrows. From the nostalgic charm of the venue to the natural beauty surrounding it, it was truly a beautiful day celebrating Old Florida in DeLand!
