Bri has spent her career behind the scenes of other people’s weddings. That clarity shaped everything that followed. Bri and Bobby wanted a day that felt intentional and sentimental first and romantic second.
“Every single piece of the day was chosen with purpose. My goal was to create a day that we could look back on 10 years from now and still feel completely connected to.”
Where the Inspiration Actually Came From
Ask most brides where their wedding vision came from and you’ll get “Pinterest.” Bri’s answer was a little more complicated, mostly because she had too many good ideas to choose from.
“I joke that I had about a dozen different bridal personalities fighting for attention at the same time. At one point, I had so many different mood boards and inspiration photos that my planner, designer, and florist basically had to sit me down and say, ‘Okay girl, we have to pick a direction and commit.’”
Rather than pulling only from weddings, Bri drew inspiration from fashion, interior design, hospitality, and luxury brands, the same worlds she pulls from professionally. The result wasn’t a single look lifted from an inspiration board. It was pieces from a dozen different places, edited down until they felt like her.
Handing Off Control to Someone She Trusted
For most brides, hiring a planner is about logistics. For Bri, it was about something harder: learning how to stop being the one in charge.
“One of the best decisions we made was hiring Amanda and the team at For the Love of Events. As someone who works in the wedding industry, I knew it would be difficult for me to completely turn off my ‘event mode.’ I’m so used to managing timelines, solving problems, and making sure every detail is executed perfectly.”
Having Amanda there meant Bri could let all of that go instead of quietly running her own wedding from the inside.
“She became my voice, my eyes, and the person handling everything behind the scenes so I could simply be present and enjoy being the bride. Knowing I had someone I trusted completely gave me such a sense of peace throughout the day.”
It’s the kind of trust Bri now points to as her top piece of advice for other couples, industry insiders or not.
“If there’s one piece of advice I’d give couples, it’s this: hire a planner. Being able to fully experience your wedding instead of managing it is one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself.”
Why a Daytona Beach Wedding Was Never a Question
For Bri and Bobby, the venue search started and ended in the same place.
“Bobby and I were long distance for a very long time, and so much of the time we were able to spend together happened at the beach. I truly feel like that’s where we fell in love.”
Daytona Beach has been part of Bri’s life since before she can remember. For a couple who wanted their wedding to feel personal over Pinterest-perfect, celebrating somewhere that already held years of meaning made the decision simple. It’s part of what makes their blush and blue Daytona Beach wedding feel so distinctly their own.
A Ceremony With Just the Right Amount of Presence
With no wedding party and a guest list kept intentionally small, Bri wanted the ceremony to feel elevated without competing with the view she’d chosen it for in the first place.
“For our ceremony, I intentionally wanted to keep the décor simple because the ocean was always meant to be the star of the show. At the same time, because we weren’t having a wedding party and our guest count was so intimate, I wanted the ceremony to feel elevated and give Bobby and me a little more presence as we stood together. That’s where the stage from Oasis Creative Rentals made all the difference.”
The stage gave Bri and Bobby a clear focal point on the balcony, with the ocean spread out behind them.
“It was the perfect addition. It fit the scale of our intimate ceremony, but it added just the right amount of drama. And if you know me, you know I do love a little drama! It created a beautiful focal point without taking away from the natural beauty of the beach.”
Checking Into Their Own Wedding Weekend
Instead of a traditional venue, Bri and Bobby chose to host their wedding at a hotel, and for Bri, that was never really up for debate.
“I’ve always been a hotel girl. I loved the idea of having everything in one place. Our guests could check in, relax, enjoy the weekend, celebrate with us, and never really have to leave if they didn’t want to.”
Hosting somewhere private meant the entire weekend could unfold in one spot, giving guests a mini getaway instead of just a single event to attend.
Her Advice for Couples Touring Intimate Venues
Bri’s biggest piece of advice for couples considering a smaller wedding: stay flexible.
“An intimate wedding doesn’t have to follow the traditional, cookie-cutter formula, and honestly, I think that’s one of its greatest strengths. Sometimes, having fewer guests actually gives you more possibilities, and that’s a really exciting way to approach the planning process.”
The Dress That Felt Like Her
Between her career in the wedding industry and time spent working in bridal, Bri has seen more gowns than most people ever will. When it came to her own, she wasn’t interested in playing it safe.
“I’ve always gravitated toward prints, patterns, texture, and color, so I went into dress shopping knowing I wanted something that felt a little unexpected. It was different, but it was different in a way that still felt classic. It felt like me.”
Her gown came from Lily’s Bridal, a Maggie Sottero design in a blue and white print that broke from tradition without losing an ounce of romance.
A Headpiece Made Just for Her
Bri’s accessories were a full custom set from Maria Elena: a tiara for the ceremony, a claw clip for the reception, and two sets of earrings, all made to match her dress.
“No matter how I start the day, my hair is eventually going up. We all knew that was going to happen at some point, so instead of fighting it, we embraced it.”
She sourced the pieces through The Bridal Finery, which carries Maria Elena and works closely with the brand. Bri met Maria Elena’s fashion director in person during a trunk show at The Bridal Finery, bringing a swatch of her dress fabric so the crown could be custom colored to match. Every piece is handmade in Miami, Maria Elena’s home base, giving the accessories their own Florida connection.
The claw clip went a step further. It was fully custom, something Maria Elena had never made before.
Getting Ready With Someone Who Already Got Her
Hair and makeup wasn’t just a to-do list item for Bri. It was one of the parts of the day she’d been looking forward to most.
“Hair and makeup was one of the things I was most excited about because I’m such a glam girl. I love getting my hair and makeup done, getting all dressed up, and really leaning into the experience.”
She didn’t have to explain her vision from scratch, because Jasmine of Jazz It Up Artistry already knew it.
“Jasmine and I have been friends and colleagues for a long time, so choosing her for my wedding felt like such a natural fit. I’ve admired her work for years and have had so many opportunities to see her talent firsthand. More importantly, she just gets me. She understands my style, what makes me feel confident, and how to create a look that still feels like me.”
Getting the Glow Right
A wedding day glow doesn’t happen by accident, and Bri wanted hers to look like her, not like a generic bridal tan.
“What I love most about working with Shireen is that she really takes the time to understand the look you’re trying to achieve. She doesn’t just give everyone the same spray tan. She customizes it based on your skin tone, your vision, and the overall look you’re going for, so the final result feels completely natural and enhances your features.”
Working with Glowmont Tanning meant Bri never had to guess whether she was doing it right.
“She’s also incredibly thorough from start to finish. Before your appointment, she walks you through exactly how to prepare to get the best results. Afterward, she gives detailed aftercare instructions and explains everything you need to know to make your tan last and look its best. You never feel like you’re guessing because she guides you through the entire process. I really wanted my skin to look hydrated, even, and have a healthy glow. I wanted to feel like the best version of myself.”
Her one piece of advice for other brides: don’t make your wedding day your first spray tan.
“If a spray tan is something you’re considering, try it for your engagement photos, shower, or bachelorette party first. That way you’ll know exactly what you like and feel completely confident when your wedding day arrives.”
The Detail No One Thinks About Until Wedding Day: Steaming
Most couples never budget for an onsite wardrobe steamer. Bri, who has seen a hundred weddings from the vendor side, made sure she didn’t skip it.
“Meghan from Meghan Onsite was our on-site wardrobe steamer, and I honestly can’t imagine the day without her. She brought such a calm, positive energy to the getting-ready process, and she immediately put everyone at ease. She was incredibly thorough and meticulous, making sure every detail of my dress and my mom’s dress looked absolutely perfect.”
It’s a service that’s easy to overlook until you’re the one standing in a gown you’ve never worn before, watching the clock.
“Those are the kinds of details you don’t always think about until the wedding day, and having someone whose sole focus was making sure everything looked its best was invaluable. It’s actually something I encourage couples to consider because it’s a service that’s often overlooked. Most of us aren’t used to wearing formal gowns, let alone wedding dresses with layers, trains, and delicate fabrics. Having a professional there to steam, style, fluff, and make sure everything photographs beautifully takes so much pressure off everyone else.”
Getting Bobby’s Look Just Right
The suit conversation belonged entirely to Bobby, and Randy at the Winter Garden Men’s Wearhouse made sure it felt that way.
“We had an incredible experience working with Randy at the Winter Garden Men’s Wearhouse. From the very beginning, he made Bobby feel completely comfortable and confident throughout the entire process.”
For Bri, a self-described fashion lover, it wasn’t just about picking a suit off the rack.
“Randy took the time to walk him through every detail, from selecting the right look to explaining the fit, tailoring, and how everything would come together on the wedding day. He wasn’t just helping Bobby pick out a suit. He was styling the entire look, and it showed. As someone who loves fashion and pays attention to the details, I really appreciated how thoughtful Randy was. Bobby walked away feeling like the best version of himself, and that gave both of us so much confidence leading up to the wedding. He made the experience enjoyable, stress-free, and personal, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly.”
Let’s Talk About the Crocs
Every bride has one detail that’s completely, unmistakably her. For Bri, it was Crocs.
“At home, I have an entire rack dedicated to them, organized by color, with different themed pairs for just about every occasion. So it felt inevitable that Crocs would make an appearance on my wedding day.”
She sourced custom Jibbitz charms to match the coastal theme and spent an afternoon customizing them with her family, including her mom, who ended up with a pair of her own.
“They were comfortable, completely ‘me,’ and honestly just made me smile.”
Her Advice for Stepping Outside Tradition
If there’s one thing Bri wants other couples to take from her wedding, it’s permission to do things their own way.
“Your wedding should tell your story, not someone else’s.”
The Team Who Made Sure the Day Could Be Relived
Bri had spent years watching other couples’ weddings through a camera lens, standing just out of frame. Handing that role over on her own wedding day meant trusting it to someone she already knew could get it right.
“I’ve been following Katie, owner of KT Crabb’s, work since the very beginning of my career, so getting to have her photograph our wedding felt incredibly special. I’ve always admired not only her talent but also who she is as a person. I love her artistic style, and as a fellow fashion lover, I knew she would truly appreciate and capture all of the little design details that were important to me.”
By the time the wedding arrived, Katie of KT Crabb Photography wasn’t a stranger behind a camera. She’d already photographed their engagement session, and it showed in how the day felt.
“Bobby and I never felt like we were awkwardly posing for photos. Instead, it felt like we were simply enjoying the moment together while she beautifully documented it.”
Alongside her, a content creator gave Bri and Bobby something photos alone couldn’t: the whole day, from every angle, in motion.
“Hiring a content creator was one of the best decisions we made, and it’s something I recommend to every couple now. If it’s within your budget, do it. You won’t regret it. I knew it would be fun to have behind-the-scenes content, but I honestly had no idea just how much it would mean to us. At the end of the night, when Leah delivered hundreds of photos and videos from throughout the day, Bobby and I were able to relive our wedding almost immediately. It was such a special experience.”
What stood out most to Bri wasn’t just the volume of content Leah of Case Creative Co. delivered, it was the perspective.
“What I loved most was that she captured the day from so many different perspectives. There were moments from my point of view, Bobby’s point of view, our guests’ experiences, and all of the little in-between moments that we never would have seen otherwise. Those candid memories are absolutely priceless.”
The Blush and Blue Details Bri Couldn’t Live Without
When it came to bringing the blush and blue color story to life, one detail sat at the very top of Bri’s list: a set of Gold Eloise chairs in Sky Velvet from Nuage Designs, brought in specifically for her wedding.
“I was absolutely obsessed with them. Honestly, if I could have them in my house today, I would. They added the perfect soft pop of color and completely transformed the space.”
Nuage also supplied one of the most personal details of the entire day: Swarovski plates, chosen as much for what they meant as how they looked.
“We chose Swarovski plates from Nuage, and since the Swarovski logo is a swan, we decided to carry that into our place cards, which were gold swans. That detail was especially meaningful because Bobby and I have a little term of endearment for each other: ‘my swan and only.’ I love incorporating subtle personal details that tell your story without having to announce them. It wasn’t something that needed a sign or an explanation. It was simply woven into the design in a way that felt elegant and meaningful to us.”
The handwritten place cards from Meghan Caroline Details added one more layer of intention.
“Taking the time to personalize each guest’s place setting added such a warm, thoughtful touch and made everyone feel welcomed.”
From there, the design built outward in layers: the Blush Tulle Wave linen from Nuage, coordinating pillows, and colorful china, all working together rather than standing alone.
“It wasn’t about one individual rental piece. It was about how everything worked together.”
Glassware and flatware came from A Chair Affair, a deliberate choice for a couple who never wanted the tablescape to feel too matched.
“One of my favorite parts of designing our wedding was intentionally selecting every single element of the tablescape. Because we were having an intimate wedding, I felt like we had the opportunity to really focus on the details and create something that felt layered and thoughtfully curated. I never wanted everything to feel too matchy-matchy. Instead, I wanted to mix textures, finishes, and different shades within our color palette so the table felt collected, rich, and full of personality. Every piece had a purpose and contributed to the overall look.”
“The glassware and flatware from A Chair Affair were such an important part of bringing that vision to life. They added just the right amount of texture and sophistication, complementing the linens, china, florals, and all of the other layered design elements without competing with them.”
A Cake (and a Few Cannolis) That Told Their Story
Dessert was the one part of the day where Bri and Bobby’s tastes genuinely split.
“When it came to desserts, Bobby and I definitely balanced each other out. I’m not a huge sweets person at all. I’m much more of a savory girl. Bobby, on the other hand, absolutely loves dessert, so that part of the wedding was definitely more his lane!”
Even so, Bri wasn’t willing to skip the tradition entirely, and gave Taylor of Iced by Taylor the room to run with it.
“I still love the tradition of having a beautiful wedding cake. We chose a red velvet Biscoff cake, and it was absolutely incredible. For the design, I shared some inspiration with Taylor and then gave her the creative freedom to run with it. I trusted her talent and design eye completely, and she created something that fit our wedding perfectly.”
The detail that made the dessert table feel like theirs, though, wasn’t the cake at all.
“One of my favorite personal touches was including cannolis alongside the cake. They’re Bobby’s favorite dessert, and with his Italian heritage, it felt like such a meaningful way to incorporate a little piece of his family into the celebration. Everything was absolutely delicious, but what I loved most was that the dessert display wasn’t just beautiful. It also reflected our personalities and told a little bit more of our story.”
Trusting Her Florist With the Vision
You don’t have to know the name of every flower to get your wedding florals right. Bri didn’t.
“Rather than saying, ‘I have to have this flower,’ I trusted my florist to achieve the vision. My priorities were the color, the texture, the overall style, and making sure everything felt cohesive with the rest of the wedding design. You don’t have to know every flower by name. You just have to communicate the feeling and aesthetic you’re trying to create.”
Bri’s florals were brought to life by Bluegrass Chic.
Meghan, who worked on Bri’s florals, wasn’t expecting that kind of hands-off trust.
“I waited and waited for Bri to decide when she finally wanted to talk about flowers. She was the opposite bride of what I expected. She’s so carefree with floral, just wants everything to look pretty. Being friends with Bri for six years, I always thought she’d have an ‘all things pink’ wedding, so I was pleasantly surprised. Her favorite flowers are the fluffy ones, or as she calls them, ‘meaty’: hydrangea, garden roses, peonies, and orchids.”
The one moment that shaped the whole direction came down to a single photo.
“Bri really didn’t know what she wanted for the ceremony until she saw one reference photo and said, ‘I can’t stop thinking about this.’ That’s how I knew it was the direction. For the reception, the word she used was ‘maximalist,’ so we leaned into subtle nods to the beach with shell vases and sea glass, without it ever feeling too ‘in your face.’”
The Soundtrack to Their Day
Music turned out to be one of the hardest parts of planning, not because Bri didn’t know what she wanted, but because she wanted almost everything.
“I absolutely loved working with DJ Cola from Our DJ Rocks. Music was one of the things I was most excited about, but it also ended up being one of the hardest decisions because I love so many different songs. Narrowing everything down to just a handful of meaningful moments felt almost impossible!”
DJ Cola took that overwhelm off Bri’s plate entirely.
“DJ Cola made the entire process so much easier. She guided us through all of the music decisions, asked questions we never would have thought to consider, and helped us create a soundtrack that felt completely personal to us.”
One touch Bri didn’t expect to love as much as she did: a soundtrack that changed with the day itself.
“One of my favorite parts was that she curated custom playlists for different parts of the day. My getting-ready playlist set the perfect tone for the morning, and the dinner playlist created exactly the atmosphere we were hoping for. Those are the kinds of details you don’t always think about, but they make such a difference in how the day feels.”
The Sentimental Touches That Mattered Most
Some of the most meaningful parts of Bri’s wedding weren’t in the design plan at all. At the reception, she and Bobby cut the cake using her parents’ cake knife and server set from their own wedding. At the rehearsal dinner, Bri wore heirloom jewelry from her in-laws.
“Being able to wear pieces that had such family history behind them meant so much to me and made me feel even more connected to our families as we officially became one.”

The Most Surprising Part of Planning Her Own Wedding
Bri expected her industry experience to make planning easy. Instead, she ran straight into something she hadn’t planned for: decision fatigue.
“Every decision suddenly felt so much bigger because it was our wedding. There were definitely moments where I’d start working on a task, get overwhelmed by all the options, set it aside for a while, and come back to it later with fresh eyes.”
The experience gave her a new appreciation for what couples she talks to at wedding shows go through, and reinforced just how much having a trusted vendor team matters when the overwhelm hits.
What the Day Taught Her
Bri has heard hundreds of couples say their wedding day flew by. Living it herself was something else entirely.
“One moment you’re getting ready, and the next you’re saying goodnight to your guests. It really does happen in the blink of an eye.”
She was also caught off guard by something she hadn’t expected to feel this strongly: the wedding blues that hit once the day itself was over, gone as quickly as it came.
“I never fully appreciated that feeling until I experienced it myself. Continuing to relive the memories through our photos, videos, and content from the day has been such a wonderful reminder of all the love and joy that surrounded us.”
Her Advice for Newly Engaged Couples
For anyone feeling buried under their own wedding to-do list, Bri’s advice is simple: slow down.
“Wedding planning is a series of small decisions that add up over time, not something that has to be completed in one weekend. Focus on one decision, celebrate when it’s checked off the list, and then move on to the next.”
Why She’d Choose an Intimate Wedding Again
Looking back, Bri wouldn’t change a thing about the size of her guest list.
“Having a smaller guest list allowed us to be fully present with the people who meant the most to us. We weren’t rushing from table to table or trying to squeeze in conversations with hundreds of guests.”
Her final word for couples weighing an intimate celebration against a larger one:
“There isn’t a right or wrong size for a wedding. The best wedding is the one that feels right for you as a couple.”
