It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Laura Reynolds of Laura Reynolds Artistry Hair & Makeup Team.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
I am an artist, makeup artist, and painter and I own and manage a hair and makeup company in Central Florida.
What did you do before you did this?
I was a makeup artist and educator for Mac Cosmetics, Nars Cosmetics, and Laura Mercier.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
My first wedding was in 2012 when I was working as a freelance makeup artist for local bridal companies.
How long would you say you’ve been doing what you do today?
I’ve been working as a professional makeup artist since 2010 but started my company in 2015.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What’s your WHY?
I love the power of the transformation! Physically and emotionally; it is so powerful and beautiful to be apart of!
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is connecting emotionally with clients in my chair and seeing the confidence, joy, and pleasure when they see themselves.
What motivates you to do this every day?
What motivates me every day is the fulfilling connection of doing what I love and helping women feel and look beautiful. When a person feels beautiful, they carry themselves differently. It’s a form of power and healing.
What fun fact would people be surprised to learn about you?
I love learning languages and speak conversationally in French, Italian, Russian, Slovakian, German, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and am almost fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
“You really listened to what I wanted and this is the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life.”
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We are artists and we care about our clients looking and feeling their best. No ego, just connection, and beauty.
What is the most unique service/product you offer?
Tattoo cover-up! 😀
What types of events do you specialize in?
Weddings, corporate, TV production, any event type. We also offer makeup lessons.
Name three unique venues that you enjoy working at and why.
Bridle Oaks Barn – Woodsy and beautiful. Love the chandelier and outdoor ceremony section. The Barn is stunning and the bridal house and getting ready space is so charming. Overall the attention to detail and everything at Bridle Oaks is phenomenal!
Cypress Grove Estate – Love the design of the venue. Beautiful charming house and the grounds and gardens are phenomenal. The getting ready space is filled with natural light (best for hair and makeup). The staff is always amazing, helpful and professional.
Paradise Cove – I love how versatile and beautiful this venue is, especially the natural beauty of the grounds. The location is perfect (right near the attractions) and it’s such a cheerful place to visit. The getting ready bridal cottage is so spacious and charming and the lighting is perfect for hair and makeup. We also love that they have taller chairs that we can use for makeup services.
