It’s Spotlight Day, where we introduce you to incredible Orlando wedding vendors and share the stories behind these companies who help Wedding Venue Map couples have their best wedding day.
Hiring the right wedding venue is so important on your wedding day. The venue is the backdrop of every moment, every picture, and every memory.
It gives us great pleasure to introduce this week’s venue spotlight, Kevin Keelan of 1010 West.
When people ask “what do you do?” how do you answer?
Running Orlando’s most unique, 100-year-old venue and overcoming its challenges has been a journey worth taking. The absolute best thing about it is sharing all of its glory with others.
What did you do before you did this?
I’ve been a professional photographer for over 25 years. The past seven years, photography has led me to travel to remote locations around the country. It is nice to show up every day to a place like 1010 West.
When and how did you get into the wedding industry?
I was introduced to the wedding industry in 1995 when I received a call from folks in Japan to shoot a wedding at Disney. Within a few years, we contracted arrangements to shoot around 300 weddings per month between Disney, Honolulu HI, Waikiki Beach, and the Las Vegas Strip. Three studios in three awesome locations. I’ve been blessed, to say the least.
What is your favorite thing about what you do? What is your WHY?
My favorite thing about doing what I do now is seeing and being a part of the complete awestruck and wonder on people’s faces when they walk into 1010 West for the first time. I’ll never grow tired of it!
What motivates you to do this every day?
I’ve been a part of weddings in some of the most exotic places in the country. That being said, there’s no place like 1010 West.
What is the best compliment you’ve received from your clients?
I guess the best compliment is speechlessness, and it happens often.
How did you decide on the name of your company?
Well, when we first got a hold of the building, we had no idea what was to become of it. We just knew it felt like a great place to worship. We started referring to the building as 1010 West because of the address 1010 West Church St. It just worked out that way. We wanted to keep the name rustic and original just as the building reflects.
What is important for clients to know about your company before they book you?
We’re not traditional; We listen, I mean really listen, then we act on their specific wants and desires.
Kimberly, one of our event coordinators, and I love to learn about the client or couple so we can personalize their event. For weddings specifically, adding those personal touches and going a step further to create special memories for our couples is a part of the total satisfaction we receive at the end of the day!
What types of events do you specialize in?
Non-traditional. The kind where folks feel free to have an event that expresses themselves.
Tell us about your favorite type of engaged couple.
Non-traditional and unexpected.
Why do couples hire you?
I guess you can say we’re a bit different than most. Our team always puts our couple’s best interest first; we like to keep that special personal touch in our client relationships.
Tell us briefly about some of your package options. What is the price range for these packages?
The options at 1010 West are wide. You can simply rent the space from $1400-$2900. Or we can do it all with an all-inclusive package that includes everything from food, cake, photo booth, centerpieces, DJ, photography, and more for a reasonable price. People like that they have choices.
What are the most common questions you get asked by brides and/or grooms?
How in the world did you find this place? and Is my date available?
What some of their previous couples had to say….
“5 Stars for a truly unique event space (old airplane hanger) in Downtown Orlando. This spot doesn’t look like much from the outside. In fact, you may blink and miss it as there isn’t signage. But that’s part of the charm…that you’re “in the know” when you arrive. And when you go inside, you’ll be amazed by the size of the space and the warm wood finishings. Kevin, the man who runs the space, is a gem. He’s responsive, easy to work with, and comes up with solutions to event issues quickly and calmly.” – Andi P.
“We had the pleasure of hosting our holiday party at 1010 West and from the moment we walked in, we fell in love with this venue! Both rustic and industrial, 1010 West is pretty much a blank canvas that you can dress up to portray virtually any theme. We will definitely consider 1010 West for future events!” – Shantell Cambell
“This venue is so unique! A vintage airplane hanger and old mechanic shop turned super awesome urban industrial venue – so dreamy! Kevin and the team behind 1010 West are incredible and a joy to work with! I love this space and this venue!” – Sheena Grosshans
