August and Lane celebrated their vintage western wedding at Whitewood Ranch, a charming countryside wedding venue featuring scenic open spaces, rustic ranch charm, and beautiful natural backdrops perfect for romantic celebrations.

When we saw their amazing images, we could not wait to share all the details that made up their special day!

Tell us about how you chose your ceremony and reception venue.

I wanted something light and airy while still feeling a little tough of nature.

Tell us about your wedding? What was the inspiration behind our day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

I was going for neutrals and vintage with a western flare. The name quickly became “Vintage Cowgirl”.

What were the personal details of the wedding that are a great reflection of you as a couple? What were some of your favorite parts of your vintage western Wedding?

The vintage western wedding was full of touches that represented us. Lane’s favorite meal was served for dinner and my love for antiquing played into out center pieces. Simple yet thoughtful is truly what the day was. The favorite part of our wedding has to be the windmill.

I saw a picture on Pinterest where a windmill was used instead of an arch and I fell IN LOVE. We looked and looked and looked, and eventually Lane found a 6 ft windmill on facebook market! So we took a nice little hour and a half trip to pick it up!

Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

I am a DIY girly while at the same time knowing when to leave certain things to the professionals. I did all the stationary as far as invites, menu cards, seating chart, etc. and made the welcome mirror in our cocktail hour space.

Lane build a metal hanger for the windmill that we used in ceremony and reception spaces. Old glass antique bottles were used as centerpieces in the reception as well as vintage themed plates for table numbers.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The most special part of our vintage western wedding was the ceremony, while having a celebration after was the cherry on top, the true purpose for a wedding is to celebrate the marriage and love of two people coming together as one.

What was the most important lesson you learned while planning your vintage western wedding?

To be as organized as you can leading up to your special day and then the day of, truly just let go and let God.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

Try to fully be present during your wedding day. It goes by so quick and is such a fun special day. Lane and I 2 months later are still talking about how we would relive that night over and over again!

Congratulations August and Lane on your vintage western real wedding story!
