Jennifer and Derek celebrated their Star Wars wedding at the Orlando Science Center, a unique venue with the perfect rooftop spot for sunset pictures and an indoor reception space filled with dinosaurs!
When we saw their amazing images, we knew we had to feature all the details that made up their special day!
How did you bring the couple’s vision to life with the services/products that you provided?
At the Orlando Science Center, bringing Jennifer and Derek’s Star Wars-themed vision to life was an exciting process. We started off by selecting the perfect locations within our facility—the exhibit hall “Our Planet” with a captivating, suspended sphere that displayed the infamous Death Star for their wedding ceremony.
The exhibit hall that acted as their reception location had a perfect merger of two distinct worlds: the iconic Star Wars universe and our dinosaurs. While dinosaurs aren’t typically found in Star Wars, we envisioned a whimsical world where perhaps they may coexist.
To enhance the Star Wars atmosphere, Jennifer and Derek customized the T-Rex sign that is placed in Stan’s teeth with the phrase “’til Death Do Us Part,” followed by a Death Star graphic.
What was your favorite personal or design detail that was unique to the couple included in this wedding?
One standout detail that truly captured our admiration was the couple’s choice of customized centerpieces. The glowing black lanterns cast a warm, celestial ambiance throughout the reception. What made the centerpieces truly special were the die-cut elements.
Each centerpiece was intricately designed with Star Wars motifs, featuring elements such as starfighters, Princess Leia & Han Solo, and lightsabers. The couple’s hands-on approach to creating these centerpieces not only added a personal and heartfelt element to the décor but also highlighted their shared passion for the Star Wars universe.
Tell me more about your roadmap of working with this couple.
Jennifer and Derek’s journey with us began when they booked our venue for their special day. As part of our services, we provided them with a curated list of our preferred, professional vendors, tailoring our recommendations to align with their Star Wars-themed vision. We highlighted vendors such as Junction 88, Florida Candy Buffets, Premier Event Services, and Ashley Jane Photography, all of whom contributed to the couple’s galactic vision.
We also recommended reaching out to the 501st Legion, an organization dedicated to promoting Star Wars through costumed appearances. The 501st played a memorable role in the wedding, sending two stormtroopers and a Jawa. These iconic characters participated in various wedding festivities, from capturing portraits with the couple to greeting guests during cocktail hour and overseeing their first dance.
The collaboration with our recommended vendors along with the appearance of the 501st Legion’s stormtroopers and a Jawa demonstrated that assembling the right vendors can help you feel as though your wedding has been transported to a galaxy far, far away.
Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
Our advice to couples planning their wedding is to prioritize personalization. Your wedding day should reflect your unique story and interests. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and infuse your personalities into the details, just like this Star Wars-themed wedding.
Congratulations Jennifer & Derek on your Star Wars wedding story!
